That thing is just an adapter, not an "accelerator".

Gaming performance is still mostly bounded by GPU and CPU. I/O is still not a tier-1 factor. Even if the idea works you are still not optimizing the right area.

The usual clicking noise from the Toshiba is not inspiring confidence over the long term. Yes, I have one of their performance line 5TB drives and it seems ok so far.

Hate to say it, but if you have lower end hardware and/or not getting WUs anyway, you could divert some of your hardware resources to Rosetta@Home to help on that front. They have some COVID-19 computation going on as well.

Not sure about on the *nix side, but on Windows you need to make sure the video drivers are installed so that power management can kick it. Otherwise you won't get that 10W TDP on idle, or at the very least, get the fan to not scream. So I figure you need the drivers.

So what are Fenix and EBL rebrands of? Are they decent as well? Looks like Nitecore itself also sells their branded batteries.

Related question: what is the general opinion of those batteries with a micro USB port to save on getting a real charger? Giving up too much in capacity?
