Re: Intel 10th-generation Comet Lake in 2020 on 14+++++ nm

Ice Lake desperately needs to come this year. This Comet Lake nonsense would be a HUGE hit to Intel. Just stretching out the same old tired architecture and same old tired process node for one more year. Pathetic.
Ice Lake is promising.

Re: AMD Navi / RDNA Topic

Nvidia's "approved" list doesn't mean diddly. One of the biggest reasons their list hasn't grown is because one of their requirements is that VRR be enabled by default out of the box. Not many "old" models are going to satisfy that. You can manually enable FS on any monitor manua...

Browser tabs = RAM. 32GB should be plenty of tabs!

I'd also recommend the 9700K instead.

You've got rich blood. I'd never consider a $400 GPU for 1080p gaming.

According to PCPer review, the $400 RTX2060 Super matches (and will purportedly replace) the $500 RTX2070.
I like that!!!

That's going to put a lot of pressure on Navi pricing. And with Nvidia supporting FreeSync now, we have the option to buy either brand.

Without overclocking, you're possibly looking at 400W system power draw with an 8700K + 1080Ti.

Re: Storage prices going up again...

Most sane companies would assumedly be prepared for something as simple as a power outage by having backup systems to keep billions of $$ of sensitive product from going to waste over such a short period of time. This tells me: 1) They aren't worried about spending the money for such protections bec...

Have you used Windows' "disk cleanup" utility? You get the big gains (10s of GB) by selecting "clean up system files" which removes all the garbage that windows update creates when it does its thing.

I'd be surprised if Nvidia doesn't actually end up naming them all "Ti" since many of the "Super" versions do in fact have more resources than their brethren and the only current "Ti" is the RTX2080Ti.

BitLocker was something I hadn't thought of, but he's definitely the tin foil hat type that would enable it. I asked and he said he can't recall for sure, but doesn't remember specifically enabling it. Is there any way to check/know?

My father-in-law's SSD just up and stopped working recently. He said it was doing some updates one night as it was shutting down, and the next day nothing. Looks like Intel doesn't need 5GHz to compete with AMD. https://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Intel-Sunny-Cove-10nm-Ice-Lake-ES-CPU-Comet-Lake-CPU-AMD-Ryzen-3000-CPU-Single-Core-Performance-Benchmark-Leak-1480x846.jpg Also looks like Ryzen 2 is pretty on-par with Coffee Lake in IPC.

Re: To Lease or too buy an EV

Here's how leases work: You pay the difference between the agreed-upon sale price of the vehicle and the predicted trade-in value at the end of the lease. Some vehicles depreciate faster than others, so that gap varies. At the end of your lease, the buyout price is simply the remaining balance (agre...

I got in an internet argument with a fella on Toms and had to buy/use a Kill-a-Watt meter to verify that GPUz reports a fairly accurate result of GPU power draw. I'm sure other software using those same handles would report the same info.

Did you use Afterburner for the laptop GPU?
