I'm thinking of pulling the 1tb mechanical drive out of my desktop and replace it with a Samsung 500gb drive. My current main C: drive is a Samsung 240gb 840 evo. I was thinking of putting the Samsung 850 evo in as my secondary drive. I'm just unsure on mixing two different models in one computer. H...
Edit: Are you sure the disk load is coming from WSAPPX? Or are you just basing that assumption on the fact that WSAPPX is consuming CPU? There is a separate column on Disk usage, hope the OP was looking at that. http://www.howtogeek.com/108742/how-to-use-the-new-task-manager-in-windows-8/ Yeah, I w...
I don't have any thumb drives plugged in or anything of that sort to have that enabled. I saw a few listings about that being one of the issues in other forums.
I built up a new home server running Windows 10. I've got 3x 1TB WD Black drives running in Raid 5 off of the onboard Raid controller. I've got the latest drivers installed and Windows is patched up. My problem is that at idle task manager is showing 99% to 100% disk usage at all times and the machi...
I would recommend updating it's firmware to the latest and doing a secure wipe to refresh the drives health. I did that with my Vertex 3 and it made a noticeable difference.
When I moved into my house in a very rural area 2 years ago I had a 2mbps/1mbps connection at the time and sadly that was the best thing I could get besides satellite. The connection was fine but as everyone said the latency was an issue with it being a cellular connection. Online games were horrid ...
I've been using Eset's NOD32 for years and it's worked great! I get just the plain anti-virus package not the all in one. Best of all it doesn't destroy your computers performance!
I would look into heat pump hot water heaters and heat pump dryers. My heat pump hot water heater tank works as a dehumidifier and air conditioning for my first floor.
I was curious if anyone might recommend a general ton rating for me. I'm going to buy a hydraulic wood splitter and I'm going to be splitting a wide variety of wood types. I think apple will most likely be the worst of it. I'll be splitting 20" pieces and I saw a good deal a on 28 ton splitter ...
Well after doing some looking around I found ASUS released beta drivers just a few days for the card. I installed those and sounds like everything is much better now. Thanks!
I did the upgrade to Windows 10 Pro x64 on launch day and didn't notice this problem until now. I went to watch a video on Youtube in x64 bit Chrome latest and greatest version as of today and the sound was very distorted and almost choppy. I launched the same video in Edge and it sounded fine. Wind...
Well it looks like maybe the Microsoft activation servers were being destroyed. My computer finally activated fine. I also found my audio issue required me not to use the newest Realtek Windows 10 drivers but the OEM ancient 2012 ones from ASUS. All good now!
I'm having the same issue it was saying that but now it's coming up as a blank error. Also, my Realtek audio isn't giving out any sound. I uninstalled and reinstalled the latest Windows 10 driver and no bueno :( I decided to give the upgrade a go on my laptop first before my desktop. I think I will ...
I'm going to try upgrading on my laptop tonight before I attempt it on my desktop. I had the beta on my test laptop for awhile but when I installed the RTM a few days ago every time it would log in then it would instantly freeze
Kind of an interesting geeky thing that I didn't know about until recently... When the Atari Jaguar sales failed and the warehouses had lots of extra parts they sold the Atari Jaguar outer shells or molds for the shells to a Dental instrument company. They painted the shells white and put their guts...
It's crazy to think I've been keeping Techreport my homepage since 2003. Sadly my old account I made back then I forgot my credentials to and made a new one to keep on going with.
I've been dealing with a network printer (It's a HP M602n) that has been printing a massive amount of 15 page reports since Saturday. Usually it's no big deal and I can clear the print job from the server print queues. The problem seems to be that something is actually printing directly to that prin...
I strongly recommend people who bring me XP and older machines to just make the plunge to get a new computer. I generally keep a few used but still very nice computers on hand to sell them. If it's a decent Vista era machine I'll just suggest they upgrade to WIndows 7.
I'm looking for a computer case that can be rack mounted as I would like to add my own components in for a home server. Possibly something with the hot swappable front sections for hard drives. I'm looking for at least a 3 hard drive setup for RAID redundancy. Ideally a half depth style as my server...
It was -20 on top of 20-30 mph winds at my house this morning and it took about 5 minutes of walking around outside taking care of the barn yard animals for my beard to freeze over.
It's -4 here in Vermont right now. The wind chill really is making it pretty awful. I'm curious to see how cold it will be when I wake up for work tomorrow.
A friend of mine has poor signal in a portion of their house. I recommended tossing an access point (not an outlet style one but Ethernet connected one) nearby to help boost the signal to that portion of the house. They have an all in one phone and Broadband service modem from Comcast which is N sty...
I've been trying to hunt down the cause as to why when people text me MMS messages it fails to download/appear on my phone. I've got a Samsung Galaxy S5 through Verizon and it seems to be when people with iPhone's send it to me it just times out the download. I switched over to the new Google Messen...
I'm thinking of getting my girlfriend an iPad Air for Christmas. I'm sort of hesitant to go with the last generation iPad Air 1 as Apple will only drop OS support for it sooner but the price is a little easier to swallow. Besides the wireless AC addition on the newest one anything else that's a make...
I purchased a refurb laptop off of Newegg the one time and I'll never do that again. The keyboard looked like someone used it as a grater for cheese doodles and spilled Mountain Dew on it. On top of the optical drive was completely dead. You might have better luck with a graphics card though. Althou...
I sort of had this same thing happen and it turned out being my power supply was failing. It wasn't giving enough juice to the card and weird stuff was happening. Something to look into!
