Speaking of the zombie apocalypse, this was a pretty interesting gun mod: http://artofmanliness.com/2011/07/11/ho ... l-shotgun/

I've never been much into beer, particularly the more bitter ones. I would recommend you try Session Lager.

Re: Movies we've all seen???

An atypical Tarantino film is Jackie Brown. I like most of his, Jackie Brown too, but Jackie Brown has an entirely different pace, and IIRC no blood, guts or sex. No, there is all three (maybe no guts, but definitely violence). Not as much as his other films, but it is still there. Good movie thoug...

Re: What are you READING right now?

Just finished John Scalzi's new _Fuzzy Nation_, a retelling of Piper's _Little Fuzzy_. It was very well done, and in some ways exceeded old Beam's work. You should read it! Sounds intriguing. I recently finished Scalzi's "Ghost Brigades," which is the second in the "Old Man's War&quo...

Re: Game of Thrones TV series HBO

Check out this really cool illustrated guide to Houses and character relationships that someone put together. It's based on the show and not the books, to avoid spoilers, so not all of the info is technically correct, just what has been revealed so far.

Booker T. , Tapes 'n Tapes , Neko Case , and My Morning Jacket . Just bought tickets for "Rock the Garden", which is an outdoor concert put on by a local radio station and an art museum here in Minneapolis. That's the line-up, of course. Pretty much just bought the tickets to see Neko Cas...

Re: State of the PC

I'll admit to not filling out the survey, mainly because my hardware hadn't changed and I couldn't even tell you what was in my computer anymore without opening it up. I guess being an "adult" has finally caught up with me and I don't use my PC as much as I used to. Everything I need to do...

I'm also slowly making my way through lots of the Project Gutenberg classics. I've recently finished The Swiss Family Robinson (one of my favorite books ever), Dracula, and the John Carter of Mars series by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

If going through Gutenberg, be sure to read H. Beam Piper.

Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?

For the record, the best performance is found on the Cowboy Junkies' second album The Trinity Session both for the alternate lyrics and the stunning recording and production values. Recorded in a single take on a single Calrec Ambisonics microphone, you can hear, feel, and almost see the sound expa...

What's with the no forum access line at the bottom?

I am guessing, but I think that there could be topics at the main forum level. If there were topics, then you would not have permissions to read those topics. But we don't have topics at that level, so it is nothing to worry about.

Mumford and Sons - Live at First Avenue

Our local radio station recorded the Mumford and Sons concert (which I had the pleasure of attending) a few weeks ago. Good stuff, be sure to check out the two new songs they played near the end of the show.

There's an OTA software update out today. It worked fine for me, although some people have reported that it bricks their phones. Apparently after the update is finished, they got a second update notification and installing that bricks the phone. So be careful. I haven't had much time to play with it...
