Re: Coronavirus COVID-19 precautionary measures?

What I discovered is that not only can people be infected and experience no symptoms or very mild symptoms for the first few days, but this coincides with when the so-called viral load — the amount of virus being emitted from an infected person’s cells — may be the highest. Isn't that usually the c...

Re: TRFrankenbot for COVID-19

I seem to be getting mostly CPU units also. I haven't been watching things super closely, but most of the time when I've checked on the machine the CPU is crunching away while the GPU is sitting idle. This morning the machine was idle altogether, but that'll change once it's able to pick up some work.

Re: Addicted to double creme Brie cheese!

So roughly around a month ago or maybe a bit longer... I brought an 8oz wheel of Private Selection(Store Brand) Double Creme Brie Cheese from Ruler Foods and I've been this ever since... Yesterday morning I went grocery shopping there and brought four wheels of this. Why are you bringing food to th...

There was a recent podcast with Brian Greene where they talked a bit about Richard Dawkins and his apparent fear of haunted buildings. If you're familiar with Dawkins, then you'll understand the humor in Greene's response of "Wait, what?" Wait, is that actually real? I can't take that at ...

Re: Scamming to make money...

I've heard people refuse to call themselves atheists for just that reason. Beliefs aside, it's not in them to behave that way, and they don't want to be associated with people who are rather unpleasant in this particular fashion.

I'm in! I won't be running it 24/7, but while I'm not in the office I see no reason why I can't put some spare hardware to use. The gaming machine has an i7 6700k and an RTX 2070, so that should be a decent addition to the horde. :P When I installed the client last night it seemed to have no trouble...

Re: Coronavirus COVID-19 precautionary measures?

I believe this one is RNA based, but generally there's both RNA and DNA viruses. There's also disagreement among microbiologists whether a virus should be considered alive or not, but that doesn't really change any of the details outlined in the post.

Yeah, and I'm sure what comes next will be 87 links to more nonsense, or some journal study taken out of context which doesn't say what Igor thinks it does, but that's ok. I don't mind reading the journal studies so much even if they're completely off the mark. Edit: Hah, while I was making predicti...

Indeed. We know it's bogus for the same reason we know telekinesis or telepathy or any other "spooky action at a distance" is bogus. The only forces which work across large distances like this are gravity and electromagnetism. As JBI already explained, gravity is out, and electromagnetism ...
