Re: Games You Might Not Have Tried

I can speak for Blacklight Retribution being a great game, but I can also speak for it being one of the most horrible examples of the money pit when it comes to F2P games. Sure, you don't need to spend money, but you could easily end up spending hundreds or thousands to get everything. (I'm not aver...

Re: Why are there no high-power ARM CPUs?

A lot of people think "Project Denver" is vaporware -- and nobody even really knows what the purpose is. I'm still on the fence as to whether it will ever become a real product, but look at this: I am aware, but the slide said 2015 and is much newer than that wikipedia article. It claims ...

And noone has even mentioned Project Denver?

The Internet claims it's due in 2015

I've been looking at Starforge but I haven't felt like paying for it yet.

Scifi building sandbox game with physics and DX11.

I'd be more interested if it was past alpha.

Re: Upgrade to Haswell from Nehalem?

I'd go to Haswell from my 920 if Kaveri isn't good enough. I really don't need or want an Intel GPU though. The plus with the newer arches is they tend to be cheaper and put out less heat. The minus with Intel is the good motherboards tend to be either expensive or low on SATA6g ports and PCIe lanes...

Re: Anyone see this? Full Radeon 8xxx specs?

The other reason I'm holding off is I intend to replace my box with a Kaveri if it performs decently. Don't want to drain my finances before that. The i7 920 setup I have performs well but it's been unstable and had ports dying and so on since it got built, and the DX58SO is quite possibly the worst...

Re: Anyone see this? Full Radeon 8xxx specs?

There are rumours that id is in a bit of trouble. They have to finish DOOM 4 soon, other Bethesda will stop them from making other games and just have the focused on improving the id tech 5 engine. Imo though, having played Rage, i don't know if the megatexture was such a great idea. I thought the ...

Re: Anyone see this? Full Radeon 8xxx specs?

Good lord that sounds awesome. We have six that hang here and two of them are ours. Anyone want a cat? But no, I am simply not that interested in upgrading until there are a lot less major dx9 releases. I'm hoping dx9 won't even be a thing next year...but as retarded as PC gaming has been I doubt it.

Re: Anyone see this? Full Radeon 8xxx specs?

I'd take the jump Most games it seemed like a roughly 10-15% improvement so why bother...and so many dx9 games still coming out don't help the case for it. If I could afford a 79xx it'd be worth it. I know I'm switching to the PS4 even though I'm not expecting it to be considerably better than my 6...

Re: Anyone see this? Full Radeon 8xxx specs?

Ok, just checking. I thought they looked.....different. Perhaps a typo? But to be EXACTLY like the others (OH WAIT, DX11.1!) is a tad disappointing. http://blogs.amd.com/play/2012/12/14/gcn-architecture-full-dx111/ 7xxx already supports 11.1. This seems like a crock to me. I'm already on the fence ...

good lord I can't even parse a forum thread right now, nevermind me. If you 'scroll down' the options are on the far right of the app, you can remove categories and such. It's not as customizable as it could be, but you can add and remove sources. You can't really add custom tiles sadly, but you can...

Re: DirectX Question

There doesn't seem to be a driving need to upgrade DX at this point. Games are just now beginning to use Direct X 11 features so Microsoft is putting more resources elsewhere. I suspect we will eventually see updates coming as more developers start to use DX11 and ask for enhancements. Eventually t...

Re: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Official Benchmark

DX9/DX11 has very little to do with the MT-friendliness of the game. If the game wasn't pretty multi-threaded, there's no way people with 3930Ks would be beating me! Well, I guess, unless their CPU clock were a lot higher than mine. I suppose a lot of those guys with 3930Ks and 3960X probably have ...

Re: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Official Benchmark

The game is still directx 9, it's very likely to focus on one core for graphics work. If they actually upgrade the engine to dx11 it should be a lot better balanced.

But if they haven't yet for ARR I'm not expecting anything before next year.

One of the options I listed is designed to fix Windows Update and isn't destructive. It would be better to start there. I don't really know how you can say it's destructive anyway, but yeah of course it's always better to use normal tools if they work...when they don't as in my case, you're just pr...

Certainly not more destructive than the problem he already has on that note.

Personally I think OCZ does deserve their reputation, but it's only relevant to their earlier Sandforce drives. Their newer drives are pretty reliable from what I've seen. I'm running a Vertex 4. Can't complain about the speed at all, Win8 detected it as an SSD from the start as well (didn't on my C...

Bethesda does open-world better :). That said, I've run out of stuff to do in Skyrim, will have to get back in to Oblivion... Bethesda does more intricate systems, but whether or not they do the world better depends on whether or not you prefer the world and gameplay. Comparing an RPG to a shooter ...

It'd use motion blur to do it though...this is more relevant to a non preprocessed source I'd think.

Yeah, there's probably not even a Japanese emoticon that will fully describe the extent to which I dislike RE5. Game blows. It's worse that blowing your nose after you vomit and blowing out that vomit residue. I didn't play enough to hate it, but I don't like it. The boss fights were confusing and ...
