Yo yo yo!.....everyone? Just checking in like everyone else. Wish there was still the annual Michigan BBQ because I actually might have been able to make it one of these days. Ah well......So turns out, I'm 50. Atari is 50. Disney World is 50. Guess I was born in a pretty decent time. Our current time....I don't like near as well, unfortunately.

Well I’m still in touch with a couple of you chaps after all these years. But hi to everyone else!

I’m married (8 years now), pregnant and in a very high power government job. Thanks for all teaching me how to deal with life. It’s much appreciated.

Especially Vrock. Debating with you when I was what.. 15/16 was damn good practice. Haha

It's fun to see a lot of the old names pop up. I still lurk once in a while.

Life has taken many twists & turns over the years.

Currently a clinical informatics implementation specialist at the second largest women & children's hospital in Canada. (basically I troubleshoot & train people how to use the new software for the lab). Also working towards a PhD in art history.

Does anyone know if LicketySplit still shows up, or has had any contact with him at all?

Unfortunately, Lickety passed some 10 or more years ago.

Over 20 years on a site... I don't think except for Ars and TR I have anything left on the internet that is that old...

A lot happens over 20 years though, going from working as on site support in 1999 to becoming involved in networking full time in 2006, and going over to security side a few years later... coming up as my 10 year anniversary as a senior security consultant with my current employer. But a lot started with Ars and TR back in the late 90'es and then TR after the split.

poking my head in to say hello. Wouldn't say I'm "left". This is my first drive by in 3 years. Buying a house, getting married, and a new job, dont lend much free time these days for enthusiast pc building. Then again, taking a look around, all I see are articles on crypto and gambling so it doesn't seem like im missing out on much.....

No longer a forum link on the front page. Damn the mighty have fallen. Crypto and gambling (or did I repeat myself?)

Yup, I occasionally stop by to see what's happening here. After Scott and Geoff left the website lost all steam. There isn't money to be made in tech websites anymore unless they diversify heavily. Everything went to YT, which is where I generally watch reviews and leave comments. Gamers Nexus and Hardware Unboxed being the best, still not as great as TR was in it's hayday. It's always funny when they rediscover something TR was doing a decade ago, but that's the way things go. There aren't any hardware review websites left.

Had to google the forums to even find a link here in the first place. Looks like the front page is just being used to farm clicks by whoever owns it. Was lots of opportunity to pivot, just no one here to do so. Sad to see this place is so desolate, used to be absolutely popping most of the time. There isn't a single comment on the frontpage anymore.

Still alive. Not following anything on the site though. Got a steam deck, and switched from windows to OpenSuse. Guess it's finally year of the linux desktop.

It makes me sad this whole place has died. TR, along with Hardware Canucks, used to be my go-to for tech news way back in the day. I guess there isn't much room for written articles anymore, given all things tech related appear to be taking place on YT. Still sad it's all gone, though.

I haven't posted here in years, but here I am. Man, I miss the people here... or at least, the people who used to be here regularly. I feel like I'm calling into a dark canyon, hoping to hear an answer among the echoes.

I have to recover two crashed hard drives. I have to build a new PC. I want to go back and forth with people in the TR Haiku Thread. I want to find ClickClick5 and get his music. Is there another place people are hanging out these days?

EDIT: Darn, I've been posting here 19 years, but lurking longer.

Is the Slack channel still active? Is there another breakaway TR web forum? Back when the site was last sold there was a chat room that popped up, but that was too hard to follow and I lost contact. Would like to connect again.

LOL at the main page now having an OnlyFans section

I don't understand how this site is even remotely profitable/worthwhile to the new owners. Can you generate ad revenue from bots/webscrapers? There's no way actual humans are visiting this site anymore.
