When I first posted, I didn't know any of the details. I was trying to help the girlfriend with the printer when Ryan skyped in on his podcast. I wasn't sure it was Scott they were talking about at first.
I'm pretty excited to hear this announcement. If Scott can make a real impact on user experience for AMD, I think it could really help their product lineups. Not sure how much impact one person can have, but they seem to be putting great people in place all over the company. I've been worried about AMD's future from a business perspective, but it seems like they have some exciting products coming in the next year. In hindsight, I wonder if Rory's decision to not pursue high end CPUs was a mistake. Of course Monday morning quarterbacking is easy, but it just doesn't seem there is enough margin in APU's. The graphics division seems to have been doing well, but with people like Scott making sure end user experience is a focus should help them to regain some market share. Can't wait to see the new cards from both AMD and Nvidia duke it out next year!
Anyway, I've really enjoyed reading Scott's content over the years, and can't wait to see what impact he has on AMD. Also curious to see what Jeff does the the site.
