I'll just do what I've done the past couple of years -- crash on a couch if available, but bring a tent as a backup.

Maybe you should have a "fix the bunkhouse" party at some point. Kind of like an old-fashioned barn raising. That is, if you trust this crowd with power tools...

There's a joke about the BBQ crew, construction, and frame times in there somewhere but I'm just not clever enough to sort it out.

99th percentile frame time - 45 minutes & 2 beers.

Finally have a picture of an actual finished hat. The blue shown isn't necessarily the final color, we will pick whatever color is closest to the color of the shirts.

So guys more on the colorful explosives... We would like to take a little different direction this year. We have arranged for our local pyro specialist to fasten and arrange all our fireworks onto 4x8s for a one fuse show. This way we all can enjoy safely from the "optimum" viewing area If your wondering what kind of firepower to expect here is a photo from last year! (This year will be much bigger!)

Image

Our goal is $1000 this year which will buy us about 35+ minutes of nonstop action!

Due date for donations will be July 8th so we can give him plenty of time to get our setup built.

Paypal address: studboy_172001@hotmail.com

Thanks guys!!!

There'll be no "everyone is a winner" theme to the BBQ's kid's cutthroat-cornhole tournament. The only trophy is for first place and it's a beauty...

Image

I'm keeping the special twist for the kiddo tournament under-wraps until the big day but I think it's going to add a whole new element to the game. :o

Also, just a reminder that the last day to lock in a shirt and/or hat is the 1st of July. 8)

What's the age cutoff for the kids tourney? My 14 year old would mop up with some of the smaller kids.

That's an excellent question. Suggestions?

The unrevealed twist to the kid tourney could be a bit of an equalizer. :)

We could say 12 and under go to the kids tourney, 13-16 can chose if they want to sit at the big kids' table or not, 16+ are in the adult bracket? Or 8 and under, 9-12, 13+?

Post the payment methods please, even if they are on the first page, just as a reminder.
Also, is there a option to pay more and "accidentally" have a bottle rocket home in on a certain gerbil? (no names, but its rhymes with iffy) :)

Ok people, 2nd or 3rd place is up for grabs! :o

Couple things for today...

One is that I wanted to mention that parking should be friendly this year than previously, there should be more space to park at the cottage instead of needing to walk from the park or James street. I will be marking out the parking area with pink flags to make it obvious on the day of.

Second question is to get some feedback on the shirts/hats. I'm curious to know why only a few people have been tempted by them so far with only about a week to go to confirm. Is it a design thing? Colors? Cost? Flawed concept? Simple procrastination? Poor communication? Would you like more choices? It's totally fine if you don't want a shirt/hat - but I would like to know why so I can adjust future plans. Thanks! :D

Anyone that hasn't read my previous post I would greatly appreciate it if you could respond. :)

For this post I want to talk about the live stream schedule. This is what I'm shooting for (all times in EST):

5:00 AM - 11:00 AM - AM Cookery/Behind the Scenes
11:00 AM - 2:00 PM - Arrival & Setup
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM - Lunch/Feasting
3:00 PM - 5:00 PM - Cornhole Tournament & Trophy Presentation
5:00 PM - 6:00 PM - Giveaways[?] & Hardware Swap Station
6:00 PM - 6:30 PM - Alex's Giant Bubbles
6:30 PM - 7:00 PM - Ned's Potato Gun
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM - Laura's Cotton Candy
8:00 PM - 10:00 PM - Homebrew Round Table & General Conversation
10:00 PM - 11:00 PM - Fireworks/Light Show
11:00 PM - ??:?? AM - Beachside Bonfire

Of course all those times could fall apart instantly so consider them rough guidelines at best - but we can try. In addition to the Theta S for the primary 360º stream I picked up a well-regarded IR webcam for streaming the very early AM stuff as well as the very late PM stuff - that'll be the first time viewers get to watch either of those things up-close. Understand that as the camera[s] are moved around during the event the stream will occasionally cut out but I'll try to keep them online as much as possible so that there's always something to watch.

As always, feedback on my plans is appreciated.

Heya Fish, sorry I've been AWOL, had some workplace developments that make me unable to attend.

As one of the earliest responders and most guilty procrastinator, I'll say it's a little of A, a little more of B, with A being price (but it's not your fault, I'd just forgotten how spendy short-run shirts can be), and mostly B (procrastination/life events in the way).

No problem Forge, thanks for the assessment. It's a bummer you won't be able to make it though, leftovers don't travel by themselves.

Thanks for the recent donations, shirt-get list updated. :D

There's been a little confusion about the shirts in some PMs so let me clarify. The neon shirts we had to switch to are a cotton blend, you get to pick the size, color, name and number to be whatever you want (as long as no one else already took the number). If you need a size larger than 2XL then just send me a link on Amazon to any mostly-cotton t-shirt less than $15 (assume Prime shipping) and I'll order/use that one for you instead. Bright/neon colors will work best for the design we've made.

Also, thinking about it, there's no reason to make tomorrow the cut off date, it really should be Tuesday with the weekend and the holiday so you have until noon on 7/5 to finalize your shirt decision.

The reason I haven't ordered a shirt is it's "loud" for my tastes. I like the look, I just don't think I'd like it on me. If not for my wife, my not-work wardrobe would be jeans and black shirts and my work stuff would be black pants and grey shirts.

Heh, yeah, neon doesn't exactly scream subtle. I suppose it's impossible for anything to "scream" subtle for that matter. :)

Well, since we're not talking about tons of shirts, if there was something you preferred that would look good with the design feel free to pick something from Amazon based on the same rules for size exceptions if you'd like. No biggie either way, thanks for sharing your thoughts.
