If everyone involved was somehow unaware, I would give them a pass. Quickly glancing at the article again, though, this is clearly not the case. Even the planes on the taxiway knew something was wrong (commented "where's this guy going?" and turned on their landing lights; also transmitted statements to the tower). The controllers were aware of the plane being off-course at one point, and also must have known of the aborted landing. Did they do any sort of follow-up with the pilots, or bother to ask WHY they aborted?? (Because if they knew the reason, they should have been )
The Egg wrote:Speaking of which, the pilots themselves are particularly hard to excuse, as they knew full-well that they were less than 100ft from the ground on the wrong runway (or in this case, taxiway). Even if they didn't comprehend everything in the heat of the moment, they certainly had to know they were just involved in a severe near-miss after landing and re-thinking the incident (at which point, the data would have still been available).

Memory overclocking should never be a relaxing change of pace. Where did we go so wrong?

That there be a 58,000 pound cotton pickin machine. The guys on this fleet have been super helpful getting me informed about the new challenges of moving this kind of stuff. I'm pretty pumped but it's a lot more regulation compliance. For example, i'm unable to leave tomorrow until close to 9 am, because while i'm given a fixed route by each individual state and MUST follow it, i'm not allowed to drive through cities 6 am to 9 am. That sucks when you're just thirty minutes shy of enough time to make it through.
