Interesting reasoning, though KFC does the same "stockpiling" for everything on its menu. Practically the entire menu is packaged and shoved into the heating cabinets.

Yeah, "it" in this case should mean "everything". Dry biscuits, soggy chicken, and mushy green beans are just a few of the top picks from the Cornucopia of Sucky Food that KFC apparently keeps in its kitchens.

IMO of the fast food fried chicken places, Popeyes is by far the best. Just had some for lunch yesterday, in fact. Their biscuits used to be fantastic too; but they seem to have changed the biscuit recipe some years back, and they're not anywhere near as good as I remember.

They drastically changed it over a decade ago, and after the original blowback faded into history they've been further changing it ever since. The current biscuits don't even remotely compare anymore, taste just like the same cheap mix 90% of the industry already uses.

Sounds about right. The biscuits used to be OMG good back in the day; now they're just average. I still like the Cajun rice (it's what I usually get for my side), but once in a while they manage to mess that up (by drying it out). At least the chicken is still consistently good to excellent.

I still like Popeye's about 1-2 times a month. Love their spicy fried chicken. I haven't noticed the biscuit issue. I used to eat them in high school but those days are foggy now.

My son loves the chicken tenders and the wife likes tenders and cajun rice sometimes.

We also tried their cajun turkey this Thanksgiving. It was quite good.

My negative for Popeye's is their fries are what we call "false food." Like Turkish Delight made by a witch's wand, it tricks you at first thinking they are good. Those fries get stale fast, then feel like you're eating cardboard. If I can get them fresh, I love them.

The popeyes here in Amarillo are terrible as hell. Y'all are lucky. It's a 20 minute wait for cold dry food. Never eat there anymore.

Wow. Mine is a marvel of efficiency. Busy during rush times and almost always very fast. Other than those darn stale fries, which happen sometimes.

Hah, will have to remember that name for them. I only see Kentucky Fried Taco Huts along major interstates and airports anymore, at least airports sorta make sense.

As far as rice goes, it's very very easy to overcook, and doesn't keep long after its made without either turning to mush or drying out. Even restaurants that usually make amazing rice dishes will have the occasional off days with it.

We have a LJS/Taco bell right near our house. It’s nice because I can get a taco fix for me and fries for the kids.
Near work we have a LJS/KFC. I really like the famous bowls. Thats about it though.
Now a straight Tavo Bell, I could eat that 2 meals a day for a week. The breakfast is amazing. The Crunchwrap with Bacon is fabulous.

Can't see myself ever using the adjectives "amazing" or "fabulous" for anything from Taco Bell, but it's a nice changeup from McD's when I'm looking for a fast breakfast. Still think the hashbrowns kinda suck though; maybe that's just the one by us.

I actually made it well into my 30's before having a Granny Smith. Well....I'm sure I've had them before, but in an unaltered natural state, and where I identified it beforehand and then noted the taste.

Not a huge fan. Tasted too candy-like; as in, I think it's what most artificial apple flavors are modeled after.

Those things are truly disgusting. It's like they sliced up the tartest apple they could find and stuck them in kids' meals.

Courtlands are my favorite, but down here in the Southwest you can't get that variety. It's mostly used for baking IIRC, and it's an old variety to boot.

It doesn't have to be an apple, guys. I just was a wee bit alarmed at the love for fast food in here. I'm not denying it's good once in a while, but sheesh, too much for me.

Never been a big fan of those. The texture just seems wrong. I like Fujis and Galas.

Just because we had a long discussion about it doesn't mean we eat it for every meal. I probably eat that sort of stuff (Taco Bell, Popeyes, McD's, etc.) once or twice a week at most.

I didn't say anyone ate it every meal. We all obviously have our own opinions on what constitutes too much though. For instance, I very very rarely eat that type of stuff twice a week. At least, I couldn't give you a recent example of myself doing that.

BTW, I didn't say you (anyone) should or need to stop eating fast food. I just don't care for it as much as some in this thread. That's all.

I agree that golden delicious apples are too mushy (though they are very sweet). I like a crisp apple. Braeburn is the variety that I usually buy.

Oh yeah, I forgot Honeycrisp. Those are good too.

Red Delicious at least aren't as mushy as Golden, but I grew up thinking apples were just kind of "meh" because all we ever got was Red/Golden Delicious.

I actually made an apple beer with Granny Smith apples in it a few months back...

Wholeheartedly agree on this. I honestly won't even take a free red delicious apple. I just flat out don't like them.
