April 23. Birth [/handwave] and death day of Shakespeare, as well as death day of Miguel de Cervantes. There's megatons of literary history and quality packed into this day.

That is all.

Happy ending: we made little homemade pizzas for dinner. Mine had grilled chicken with peppers and onions.

It made me crave Chipotle, which I succumbed to. However they had no lettuce which made the burrito a little soggy.

Amazon finally updated their settings to allow businesses to specify whether they can accept weekend deliveries. Previously there was no way of doing this, even for "Amazon Business" accounts, which was a ridiculous waste. My single workplace alone had dozens of failed weekend delivery attempts. I can't even imagine how much fuel and driver time was being wasted across the whole of their operation.

While it's good that they're finally implementing what should have been a Day-1 feature, it needs to go a step further and allow businesses to specify exactly which days they're open, as not every business is Monday-thru-Friday.

It did however prevent you from possibly getting E. Coli, so there's that!

Great. That's a wonderful thing. I get all my Amazon deliveries sent to my home and I just carry them in. That has been easier historically.

Even if you could herd all those atoms into close proximity they certainly wouldn't stay put for very long, or disassemble quietly.

That's kind of my default stance on Chipotle.

One more reason to be leery of this internet of things trend I guess.

I don't want my fish tank, or my fridge, or my stove, to be smart.

Federal Agency X IT Follies - Sirius Cybernetics Corp update:

Last month I posted about their planned update and the rollout of new laptops. I've got gobs of slides on new e-mail addresses, new access methods, and carefully-phased rollout plans. We were supposed to be rolled out this week. Dead silence. Even the krikkits found better options (or at least sporting relationships with the rest of the Galaxy).

Happened to be at a meeting with the local agent of said Agency X earlier this evening. He's IT-savvy and as dismissive of X's IT as I. Even better, he's got contacts in the slice of the organization that's trying to manage this and stunned me with this one:

They just tested the core app on Windows 10 last week. You know, the entire premise behind this mess? It won't run on Win10. In theory, we're supposed to return the existing set of laptops in the near future against a hard lease-end date. I can't wait to see who calls "chicken" first.

I'm replacing my pixel much earlier than I would normally replace a phone but I'm tired of the Bluetooth and audio issues. The audio issues have a class action going so maybe I'll get some compensation. Anyway I'm getting a s9+ to replace it hope it works as expected.

Which issues have you experienced? I've had some BT connectivity problems with my Pixel now and then, but nothing that wasn't equally bad on an iPod touch connecting to the same hardware.

Firstly it has a quirk where it won't auto connect to my truck so every time I restart it I have to manually connect. On top of that, it will sometimes simply disconnect for no reason and will keep doing it until I restart the phone. Sometimes it's just make a nice annoying chirp noise every few minutes while playing music. So the problems together, I'm required to fix it several times a day.

The audio issue is a cracked audio joint. All outgoing audio is garbled, a problem i thought was just a **** connection until recently.

Being that I strongly dislike the mounting mechanism on the CM 212 EVO, I was happy to snag a 212 LED for a mere $15 (without rebates at the time) for my new build. I figured if the lights bothered me, I’d either snip them or swap the fan.

Finally got around to pulling the old system from my GD-07B and opened the HSF to begin the process. Immediate groans. A quick check confirms that it would be about 0.25” too tall for the case. Blah. I guess that was a bit of an amateur move on my part.

OMG, asafoetida stinks to high heaven!

Bought a small jar of it a week ago because an Indian recipe I was making called for it. Bagged the jar in a Ziploc bag for storage to contain the powerful aroma stench. The next day, my wife opened the spice cabinet, and promptly double-bagged it. Today we concluded that even the double Ziploc bags were insufficient; the double-bagged jar of asafoetida is now in turn sealed inside a Mason jar.

If that doesn't work, banishment to the garage is the next step.

The stink of the concentrated raw powder is difficult to describe, but is somewhat reminiscent of rotting onions. But like 10x stronger. :o

The little jar I got is probably a lifetime (and beyond) supply. Recipe called for 1/8 tsp, and the jar contains about a half cup of it. I guess we can leave it to our kids.
