Well, that's kfc's take on it anyway. Popeyes seems to manage just fine. From what i can tell popeyes essentially has a dedicated fryman that's just continuously cooking fresh chicken. The difference in quality is well worth whatever extra cost that causes. Like i said, i do occasionally have to wait, but i'd rather wait for something decent than be given old dried out meat. There's certainly money on the line but not in the way that they think. A lot of other companies have figured out that serving old dried out food eventually will drag you down, maybe kfc will too one day.

Right. I wasn't saying I was going to eat KFC any time soon or saying it was a good decision, just that's how they look at it.

I would always rather wait for fresh food, which is why we generally don't go to much fast food in the first place.

I wish i had a choice in the matter, but with the job :p. Popeyes is a nice treat i can occasionally get at TA travel centers which frequently have them.
Seems like half of all truck stops have a subway in them. I hate subway ....

There are still KFC+Taco Bell+Pizza Hut combo locations in Texas. Yes, all three in one fast food building... in reality it is as terrible as it sounds, the Pizza Hut portions usually offer the mini-personal-size pizzas only. It was a late 90's thing. After it went nowhere they started doing KFC+Taco Bell instead.

Can't say I've seen anything combo'd with LJS, and thank god for it. Have a negative view of Red Lobster, couldn't even cook frozen fast food fillets right, but after trying an LJS once I can see how Red Lobster gets away with it.

They drastically changed it sometime around 15 years back, and after the original blowback faded into history they've been further changing it ever since. The current biscuits don't even remotely compare anymore, taste just like the same cheap mix 90% of the industry already uses. The biscuits they made in the 90's were amazing, but after they filed for bankruptcy the new owners began using a cheaper mix.

My wife's sister-in-law is store manager at a local KFC and what you're talking about is apparently some sort of corporate policy. Fried chicken just takes too long to cook fresh, and if they run out it can take 20 minutes before they have it in stock again, and that's like half a lunch rush. As a result, they have to stockpile it. There's way too much money at stake to give you fresh food, weirdly enough.

Interesting reasoning, though KFC does the same "stockpiling" for everything on its menu. Practically the entire menu is packaged and shoved into the heating cabinets, particularly for the sides with the expected results.

Yeah, "it" in this case should mean "everything". Dry biscuits, soggy chicken, and mushy green beans are just a few of the top picks from the Cornucopia of Sucky Food that KFC apparently keeps in its kitchens.

Sounds about right. The biscuits used to be OMG good back in the day; now they're just average. I still like the Cajun rice (it's what I usually get for my side), but once in a while they manage to mess that up (by drying it out). At least the chicken is still consistently good to excellent.

I still like Popeye's about 1-2 times a month. Love their spicy fried chicken. I haven't noticed the biscuit issue. I used to eat them in high school but those days are foggy now.

My son loves the chicken tenders and the wife likes tenders and cajun rice sometimes.

We also tried their cajun turkey this Thanksgiving. It was quite good.

My negative for Popeye's is their fries are what we call "false food." Like Turkish Delight made by a witch's wand, it tricks you at first thinking they are good. Those fries get stale fast, then feel like you're eating cardboard. If I can get them fresh, I love them.

The popeyes here in Amarillo are terrible as hell. Y'all are lucky. It's a 20 minute wait for cold dry food. Never eat there anymore.

Where I grew up in Connecticut, they converted a Pizza Hut to a Kentucky Fried Taco Hut as well. Never went in - didn't like any of the three brands. Think it's gone now.

All of you are making me want fried chicken now, and that's annoying because Massachusetts doesn't give me a lot of options. Bah.

Wow. Mine is a marvel of efficiency. Busy during rush times and almost always very fast. Other than those darn stale fries, which happen sometimes.

Hah, will have to remember that name for them. I only see Kentucky Fried Taco Huts along major interstates and airports anymore, at least airports sorta make sense.

As far as rice goes, it's very very easy to overcook, and doesn't keep long after its made without either turning to mush or drying out. Even restaurants that usually make amazing rice dishes will have the occasional off days with it.

We have a LJS/Taco bell right near our house. It’s nice because I can get a taco fix for me and fries for the kids.
Near work we have a LJS/KFC. I really like the famous bowls. Thats about it though.
Now a straight Tavo Bell, I could eat that 2 meals a day for a week. The breakfast is amazing. The Crunchwrap with Bacon is fabulous.

Can't see myself ever using the adjectives "amazing" or "fabulous" for anything from Taco Bell, but it's a nice changeup from McD's when I'm looking for a fast breakfast. Still think the hashbrowns kinda suck though; maybe that's just the one by us.

I actually made it well into my 30's before having a Granny Smith. Well....I'm sure I've had them before, but in an unaltered natural state, and where I identified it beforehand and then noted the taste.

Not a huge fan. Tasted too candy-like; as in, I think it's what most artificial apple flavors are modeled after.

Those things are truly disgusting. It's like they sliced up the tartest apple they could find and stuck them in kids' meals.

Courtlands are my favorite, but down here in the Southwest you can't get that variety. It's mostly used for baking IIRC, and it's an old variety to boot.

Never been a big fan of those. The texture just seems wrong. I like Fujis and Galas.

Just because we had a long discussion about it doesn't mean we eat it for every meal. I probably eat that sort of stuff (Taco Bell, Popeyes, McD's, etc.) once or twice a week at most.

I didn't say anyone ate it every meal. We all obviously have our own opinions on what constitutes too much though. For instance, I very very rarely eat that type of stuff twice a week. At least, I couldn't give you a recent example of myself doing that.

BTW, I didn't say you (anyone) should or need to stop eating fast food. I just don't care for it as much as some in this thread. That's all.
