That's a great bike! My friend I'm dragging along had not one but TWO of GS550's (different trims) and my first bike was a GS750. Small world.

I would gladly and, with honor, cede the mileage crown to a 2-wheeler.

The last 2-wheeler I ever rode required me to be the engine.

How far you coming, LG? I'm only PA, not as far as Ned.

I'm in MN. We're planning on doing a trip through WI and doing the Rustic Roads tour and staying outside of Chicago somewhere. We could straight shot it but where's the fun in that?! It's going to be a beautiful ride followed up with adult recreational beverages while nerding out and a great ride home. This trip is the first no-kids-or-wife vacation I've ever had and, though I'll miss them, I'm going to enjoy it.

That'll be a nice, nice ride. If I two wheel it, I'll be coming straight across PA, OH, and northern Illinois, then up into MI, iirc. Less scenic and fun, but I think I will enjoy it.

The thought of trying to ride from home to BBQ and back already has my back hurting ala Harry Reddington (a/k/a Hairy Red) from Footfall. I'd be lucky to survive a 50 mile ride on the most recliner-like Hog, let alone a 2,000 mile round trip. As it is, even with the quite comfortable (to me) seat in my car, I plan on spending a good stint in the hotel hot tub at each stop.

Didn't know until I just Googled to make sure I had the character's name right that Hairy Red is based on a real person.

That's good. I'm hoping to make the trip on motorcycle this year, and those big Amoroso's cases aren't aerodynamic *at all*.

It had to be done, but these are times I wish my MiL had not sold the camp (especially since I was the repair monkey). I'd love to host a Northeast BBQ on Lake Champlain (yeah, it's a small lake compared to Lake Michigan and yes, you can see the other side), but the requisite facilities are no longer in the family.

Throw a gig anywhere this side of Michigan and I'm interested. The opportunity may come again someday.
