Yeah, originally thought about coming down today, but there was too much crap going on at work to take the day off.

Still planning to head out from the office soon (my 2:00 meeting was mercifully brief) so I can get the car packed up tonight. Planning to leave bright and early tomorrow.

Huh. I'll be in Holland for entirely unrelated reasons tomorrow but may have some free time. Is the address somewhere or "the end of James St by the lake" all it takes?

Couple notes...

There's a lady in the front cottage that would LOVE to sketch portraits of anyone that wants one. They are free, she's very good, and it will only take about 10mins. Just ask around for Karen.

Second, there's been a lot of rain, so there are a lot of mushrooms in the yard. We've raked them to shreds so they don't look interesting to small children, but please keep an extra close eye on little ones that like putting things from the ground into their mouths.

Getting ready to head out. Need to take a quick shower, and stop for gas and ice. Guesstimating I'll be there between noon and 1:00?

us too!!! we're on our way soon after loading up on some gas, ice, and snacks! our ETA is around 1-2pm, hopefully sooner then that.

Shoot, meant to post this yesterday. If anyone that is staying tonight could bring an air mattress or two, that would be hugely appreciated. The ones from the bunkhouse are gone, so we're down three beds!

Nope, no streaming this year.

Sorry to those that missed the BBQ having a live stream this year, I know it doesn't seem like much, but it vastly simplified things for me to not have it this year. I'm especially sad my dad didn't have the stream to watch.

Here's a small gallery of the events from yesterday before I leave to begin cleanup.

I really have to head out, but the sort version of how things went is that I think this year's BBQ was the best one yet. The ribs were especially delicious, and the fireworks were mindbogglingly amazing. Not to mention how great all the people were - it wouldn't be an event without all the gerbils that make the trip. Thanks so much to all of you.

Oh the ribs! Of all the things I regret missing......

Thank you so much for hosting the BBQ yet again. The long motorcycle trip was worth it!

Please do at least one more, in 2018. I need to get to another, and I'll be properly settled at my new job by then.

Yup, a HUGE thank you to everyone who makes this event possible. I hope to be able to make it to the next one too.

Thank you so much for hosting this great event again! I do think it was one of the best yet. The ribs and burgers were amazing (as usual), great weather, great company, awesome fireworks and by far the best breakfast. Thank you to everyone involved to make this such a successful and amazing event!

JBI would have spotted an imposter instantly. You weren't the only one bemoaning my sartorial choice for Saturday. Point taken.

Just wanted to say that my family and I had a really great time at the TR BBQ. This was our first time attending and we all felt welcomed. Thanks to all who contributed and who made this happen and thank you to drfish and his family for being a great host and for sharing their lovely property by the lake with all of us.

I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone that welcomed me to the TR BBQ. Needless to say, I had a great time. Everyone was very welcoming, fun, and friendly. I ate lots, I talked lots. It was great finally getting to meet the people behind long-existing names (Ned and JBI spring to mind), and see how you 'muricans spend your free time. Much fun was had.

Special notes go out to Kelli for getting up at 3AM to make sure we're all fed by lunchtime (!!!!!), to Colton for hosting me in the cottage prior to the BBQ, and to Shoes for putting up the fireworks show and drive me around in his tuned pick-up truck.

I'm somewhat disappointed at the lack of "Portugal poor" jokes, though. I guess you people are too polite to make fun of those in need
