That's a great bike! My friend I'm dragging along had not one but TWO of GS550's (different trims) and my first bike was a GS750. Small world.

I would gladly and, with honor, cede the mileage crown to a 2-wheeler.

Captain Ned, I've got a spare! A nice comfy GL1200 if you're interested ;) :P

The last 2-wheeler I ever rode required me to be the engine.

How far you coming, LG? I'm only PA, not as far as Ned.

I'm in MN. We're planning on doing a trip through WI and doing the Rustic Roads tour and staying outside of Chicago somewhere. We could straight shot it but where's the fun in that?! It's going to be a beautiful ride followed up with adult recreational beverages while nerding out and a great ride home. This trip is the first no-kids-or-wife vacation I've ever had and, though I'll miss them, I'm going to enjoy it.

That'll be a nice, nice ride. If I two wheel it, I'll be coming straight across PA, OH, and northern Illinois, then up into MI, iirc. Less scenic and fun, but I think I will enjoy it.

The thought of trying to ride from home to BBQ and back already has my back hurting ala Harry Reddington (a/k/a Hairy Red) from Footfall. I'd be lucky to survive a 50 mile ride on the most recliner-like Hog, let alone a 2,000 mile round trip. As it is, even with the quite comfortable (to me) seat in my car, I plan on spending a good stint in the hotel hot tub at each stop.

Didn't know until I just Googled to make sure I had the character's name right that Hairy Red is based on a real person.

That's good. I'm hoping to make the trip on motorcycle this year, and those big Amoroso's cases aren't aerodynamic *at all*.

It had to be done, but these are times I wish my MiL had not sold the camp (especially since I was the repair monkey). I'd love to host a Northeast BBQ on Lake Champlain (yeah, it's a small lake compared to Lake Michigan and yes, you can see the other side), but the requisite facilities are no longer in the family.

Throw a gig anywhere this side of Michigan and I'm interested. The opportunity may come again someday.

Sorry the BBQ thread hasn't been getting the attention it normally does by now. Just wanted to share my excuse. :)

I'll try to whip this thread into shape in the next couple weeks.

Jeez DrFish, it seems like you're doing that every time I talk to you. How many do you have now?

Well, Ellie takes her time growing, so you'd be forgiven for thinking we've constantly had a baby around.

BTW, new baby's name is Wren Waverly. If you already know my last name, you'll understand how awesome that is. ;)

Nah, I'm just bad about staying in touch. Ellie was at my previous TRBBQ (10, iirc) and I think I'm misremembering Wren's announcement when I got my shirt ordered. I'll totally have to wear that this year. Got my new bike, giving serious thought to crotch rocketing my way over. Still confirmed, and I'll be clearing it with $newjob at the end of the month. Four day weekend and Iron Butt badge!

I've always wanted to participate in an official Iron Butt rally. I read they do one around the great lakes. That trip is on my bucket list what kind of motorcycle do you ride now? My crazy friend is going to do this trip with me on his SV650.

Congrats on the new kid, Fish!

Zorya, a black 1996 Katana 600. I think we will be happy together, but I'm only four days into the honeymoon.

I am still unconfirmed at this point, as I have a potential conflict.

Planning on making it at this point.

As usual, I will probably have some gear for sale/swap, and some beers to sample.

Fish, PM me if there's stuff you want me to bring --otherwise I'll probably plan on the hot dogs, buns, chips, and maybe a variety pack of Arizona Tea like I have the past few years.

I'm on the fence at the moment. My friend I was going to do the bike trip is not going to be able to ride with me. I probably should go and take an actual vacation. Any other mid-west gerbils want to ride with me?

My BBQ brain is finally starting to spin up.

I've updated the first post with the best info I have. Please be sure to check it and make sure you're on the right list.

I need to get some cornhole trophies going. Adult's and kid's tourney. I think I'm going to skip the gimmick for the kid's tourney this year though, but they will still have their own set to play on. Any ideas for trophy memes this year?

I am still coming, AFAIK. Might be on bike, might just grab a plane. Either way, I can't carry a lot of cargo, so I might have to subsidize someone else's food/drink/fireworks purchase instead.

I got your back, as I am coming unless something changes at work, which it might.

The potential conflict I thought I might have on 7/15 looks like it will probably be on the 8th this year. So while my status remains "Unconfirmed (but likely)", I'd say it just got a lot more likely.
