I saw it in DC with about 84% coverage and pretty clear skies. Still a ton of sunlight even with that coverage. Looked the same as if there was a very light cloud cover on any other day.

I already live in the zone of total eclipse for the 2024 one, so I'll be set. I just hope it won't be cloudy, which would be common for April in Dallas.

Dallas?? Try Vermont. 50-50 proposition at best in early April.

I tried the simple binocular method and it worked since we had a fairly clear sky for most of the day in NJ where we had 75% of the totality. Then some clouds came in right after the peak moon coverage so I was also able to get a direct photo on my phone's camera. Very interesting day and we got a little science break at work :)

Coverage zone was low here. Couldn't even tell there was an eclipse, another typical bright, hot day except a few degrees below normal until late afternoon when it got hotter again.

I live in Idaho in the path of totality. My place is about 10 miles from dead pinpoint center. When it hit totality it dropped about 20 degrees and the ring around the moon became a soothing bright blue and I was able to look at it without glasses. Looking around it looked like I was standing on another planet. I wanted it to last much longer. The birds stopped chirping and the cows all huddled together like they do at night. Makes me hope the chemtrail conspiracy theories are true. I would love living in a world where it is much darker and cooler. It was very pleasant on the eyes and comfortable to stand outside.

Pretty much total cloud cover and rain all afternoon. Rained out my shooting trip, and the eclipse was overshadowed (heh) by the clouds--couldnt really tell.

It was amazing. I am working on processing my images from it. But these are straight out of camera. No crop.

Those are some very nice photos Emrys!!

And to think, with the moon moving almost two inches away from us a year, at some point in the future views like that with the halo effect will eventually become a thing of history. Very beautiful photos.

I was disappointed here, lots of cloud cover and I could barely tell there was an eclipse. We were in the 90% band here , but it never really got much darker than an overcast day. At least some people got some nice pics and videos.

So I am surprised that the MSM has bit on this story line: "Eclipse Baby" At least not that I have seen or heard.

We had about 87% coverage here. A bit cloudy. At work we had someone with a welding helmet and that worked extremely well. Clouds didn't matter with that on. Could see the eclipse crystal clear.

Sunlight is crazy brighter than indoor lighting. 120,000 lux on a clear day. So 25% of that...

You might remember from the excitement of the Pluto flyby that the NASA informational site claimed that full daylight on Pluto was about the same brightness as twilight on Earth, plenty enough to see by.
