Forums on Mobile Small Issue

Sat Dec 09, 2017 9:02 pm

Out of curiosity does anyone else have this clipping issue where when you go to look at "Your Posts" via the hamburger (three horizontal lines) menu where the search bar overlaps it?

This occurs on any phone I've tried it on, Samsung Note 5, OnePlus 3t, ect. All have been 1920x1080, so I don't know if this is the commonality between them causing the issue where things either aren't scaled or just overlap.

Whoever is working the website these days might be interested to know. Let me know if you need more info or testing.

Mine has never looked like that. I'm on a 2560x1440 Pixel XL though (and was on a 1440p phone previously as well). I have and always use Chrome stable on my phone.

edit: Dude, where is this even happening? I don't even recognize the naming on those links.

Weird. Looks fine in Chrome on my Pixel 2, which is a 1080p device.
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

I have the same issue as the OP, and it takes a bit of aiming with the finger to hit the hamburger menu on the right. It occurs in Chrome on my Samsung Galaxy S8+ running at both 2220x1080 and 1440x2960 in both portrait and landscape orientations.

@DancinJack - that looks like the desktop site to me, did you try it on the mobile site?

That is the mobile site. I assure you. You guys must have some setting borked up or something. I have tried numerous ways to reproduce what you're seeing and nothing comes close to what you're looking at. I haven't even been able to reproduce it with Chrome's Dev Tools and changing to many of the different user agents.

Figured it out - the board style "Canvas" has this problem. Changing it to "Black" solves it because it gives you a UI like what DancinJack has shown in his screenshot.

Heyyyyo! Nice work. God knows why you would use the light them anyway, but nice work!

edit: I wanted to check it out and holy crap don't use that canvas theme. The laytout is TOTALLY different and.....not good. Canvas (old blue) for life!

I'm generally a fan of dark themes, but hadn't noticed this setting before :) . TR's light scheme is pleasant enough that it didn't make me go hunting for a dark theme, until now.

Ahhh. It burns my eyeballs. I've been using the old blue theme and the new canvas theme (post forums update) since I very first signed up for TR in 2006. I just never even see the light theme anymore so when something like that comes up I am more or less clueless.

Yeeeeep, that changes the entire interface so it doesn't have the same issue. I like a lot of the elements of this theme, to include the darker nature which is nice for night time reading. There is a lot more going on though, icons are smaller and in general things don't seem like a mobile site.

I'm using the newer style and see the same issue as well (Pixel gen1, Chrome). There are dozens of us!
