For all those who are always talking about showing up at the BBQ someday but don't, i'd like to inform you that some "noob" who showed up for the first time got his ticket picked and had first pick of any prize he wanted.
I think he chose this to get mailed to his house:

https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categorie ... 9011148-WW

OBSIDIAN SERIES 1000D SUPER-TOWER CASE

Since that case can house two systems, I had to make the text larger.

Hey noob whose name I forgot, please post and gloat.

Yup, I had a great time.

Thanks again drfish and family, for hosting this shindig and making everyone feel welcome; z-girl for doing an awesome job on the ribs yet again; Corsair and Gigabyte for the prize donations; TR staff both past and present for coming out and connecting with the TR community; and all the great people who attend.

Looked like the Spam musubis were a hit; both containers were empty by late afternoon! :D

FYI, Bomber is getting sent a 500D, not a 1000D.

I'm the noob. Been here since near the beginning though. :) First bbq and yes won on the first draw but scored a 500D not 1000D. Thanks again TR and Corsair!

It was great to put some faces to people I've watched and interacted with for so long. Hope to make it next year if I can!

What the heck? How many cases does Corsair make that can hold two complete systems?
Bomber, I thought during some of the chats you said you had two systems next to each other and that the 1000D is the case you wanted to combine them; this was way before you won.

Thanks once again to Fish for hosting - we had such a great time! (even though I lost to GLEEK in the bag tourney) :o

We look forward to this mini vacation every year! Great company and foodstuffs guaranteed.

Momma Fish made the most epic breakfast in all of human history, it cannot be topped.
Also enjoyed the test drive in the Volt EV, what a cool experience.

I was talking about wanting one and potentially getting one because of the two systems. My 600T (original) is getting old and finding a replacement 200mm fan has been a pain in my ass since it failed. This will replace that and likely end up on my wife's desk if/when I get the 1000D

Home, finally. Dashboard tells me 1832 total miles at 29.4 MPG. Can't explain it, but that's about 3 MPG over the lifetime number from the same dashboard widget.

The Wasson Cup will take its place (one of many) on my real office desk tomorrow. Pics will ensue. Since the original Cup thumbdrive has gone missing, I'll supply one (with all of my pics) next BBQ.

Not sure. I wasn't really paying attention at that point and suddenly found myself the recipient.

yes, thanks to TR staff, Gigabyte, and Corsair! I walked away with their Dark Core RGB SE mouse and the mechanical wireless keyboard K63 for 2nd place cornhole:

as a byproduct of winning those, what else to do but support our Corsair sponsor with an actual purchase! i purchased their Corsair MM1000 gaming mousepad from
amazon ($59.99) and hooked it up today, oh man that QI charging thing is best thing since sliced beanbags!

gleek, let us know how the mouse and pad are after using them for a while.
I am due for a mouse purchase and that combo may be the way I go.

sure thing, flawless so far (hardware wise), the QI charging system works so wonderful. it changes the dark core rgb se mouse as desired and it also wirelessly charges my Samsung Galaxy S8+ too! woot woot

i am having crazy issues with their latest iCue v3.4.95 (they renamed it, sigh) driver software.

- for both win7 and win10, it doesn't have any support yet for the new MM1000 (iCue doesnt recognize it nor is the MM1000 listed on their official website for downloads).

- for win7, the iCue software works fine without any bugs (yet).

- for win10, the iCue (v3.4.95) software crashes 100% every time. they need to seriously patch/fix this asap!

Watch this video, taken today, before scrolling down...

I found a photo album in the front cottage that documented the construction of the sea wall, ~20-25 years ago.

Though you guys might like that... I can't believe those stumps were really still there back then. Also, no wonder everyone obsesses over the beach grass, there was none at all back then. :o

And that last photo! Hard to believe that too... But the sand level has moved a couple feet in just that last few days!

...and of course our homebrew club scheduled a "brew meet" for today. People bring their homebrew systems to a commercial brewery, and the brewery gives everyone free unhopped, unboiled wort from whatever they're brewing that day. You add any other ingredients you want to use plus your own hops, and boil it to make a batch of beer.

So a bunch of hot sweaty people, hanging around a hot, humid brewery on a 95 degree day, with the commercial brewery system plus a half dozen or more propane burners all going full blast!

Was a good time in spite of the heat. Would definitely do again. I decided to make a Belgian-style IPA with my share of wort. We'll see how it turns out.
