RIP John Mahoney

Mon Feb 05, 2018 9:37 pm

I know he's known for a lot of movies and such, but my wife and I are watching Frasier on Netflix and so that's how I'm remembering him right now. It's kind of eerie - this evening after dinner we were watching the episode Frasier Loves Roz shortly after learning of his passing. That camcorder scene was super creepy.

Anyway, here's to a great character actor who could steal scenes from the stars. RIP Mr. Mahoney.

My wife is a big Frasier fan too.

I always liked his character because he could always see through Frasier or Miles' egos and acted as a very funny foil.

I recently went through a Cheers and Frasier binge watch on Netflix

He and Peri Gilpin (Roz) both appeared in different episodes in Cheers last season. I've always wondered whether they were cast on Frasier before or after those episodes.

We finished Cheers right before starting Frasier, and I wondered the same thing. He was a washed-up marketer trying to write a jingle for the bar, and she was a reporter for the Herald.

Wife and I loved him. Such a fabulous character. His reaction when Roz whispers her darkest secret in his ear always gets me.
