You're already out to insult the universe, no? :-)

And in alphabetical order.
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

..but like life, it's all "choose your own adventure". The "serenity" (including your facial features and expressions) of your existence is pretty much up to you, perhaps more so if you can effect true immortality (..not just clinical immortality).

The only difference is that you should have a LOT more choices with technological improvements. And given time and technology, there is a LOT more to see (and likely do).

If you become "Q" (seen everything, been everything, done everything - a virtual impossibility IMO given the enormity of the Universe).. then there is always suicide.

Additionally, with technology you may still be able to experience death AND live forever.

..hmm, general purpose bio-nanites (as opposed to the specific example in the article) and the occasional full-body regeneration (a'la Elysium), should achieve that clinical immortality.

It's interesting that we have a LOT more research into regeneration than nanites (bio or electro-mechanical). (..National Military's are *very* interested in regeneration, so they fund a lot more research for it.)

Yeah, it could be that's just where the funding is. The aging process its self is a byproduct of a very specific, but imperfect type of regeneration. If people succeed in extending it, then we'll probably see a new class of diseases and disorders pop up which only happen to people who have been "regenerated" a few too many times.
Do not meddle in the affairs of archers, for they are subtle and you won't hear them coming.

What, your copy's not feeling so "fresh" today?

-yeah, I can totally see that happening - even with competing techniques for regeneration.

Great, another field for the never-ending "do you need ECC" argument. (Although I would tend to think that when replicating yourself the answer should be "abso-effing-lutely!")
