Which hair dryer do you use?

Thu Oct 18, 2018 1:54 pm

Hello,
I need a new hairdryer and wanted to hear some opinions here before I buy one. Which one do you use and would you recommend it?

Welcome to TR!
I'm not the right person to ask. I keep it short enough that it dries before I step out of the shower.

Hi
Currently, I'm using this one https://productz.com/en/remington-your- ... hair-dryer and I'm really happy with it.
Have always only used hairdryers from Remington ... I think because at the time they were the only ones with a diffuser.
I always blow my hair upside down (hottest level) but always with the diffuser ... it works really great, as the curls do not jumble. My hair is soft, smooth and shiny. Whether it's because of the hair dryer, I do not know. Simultaneously with the purchase of this hairdryer, I also bought a Kostkamm care brush, which I use extensively daily, and I must say my hair never looked better...

Maybe someone should tweat the forum thread at GamersNexus.

It would be funny to see them review Hair Dryers, and it might have a practical purpose.

Sorry for the OT post.

I just get down on my knees and peer into the clothes dryer for 10-15 minutes on delicate. It gets a little uncomfortable, so remember to bring some earplugs and a good book.

A towel or two to take care of the wet. When down to damp, I finger fluff and let room air take care of the damp.

Hey this is a great idea! I knew I was doing something wrong by setting my convection oven to "keep warm" and sticking my head in.

The cheapest one that looks cool and fits my needs at the local department store. Actually, that's the answer for my wife.

I just let my hair air dry after toweling off.

My wife likes to choose hair driers that are as obnoxious as a fat-guy leaf blower. Need ear plugs for the damned things.

Otherwise I shoot for the windows down in the car, as long as my hair doesn't freeze before it dries.

A #3 or #4 buzz cut with a little assistance from a towel if it's been a couple months since the last cut.

So OP appears to have ghosted, but this really depends on what you need the hair dryer for. As someone with long hair, I can tell you that hair dryers are BAD. The heat can easily do more harm than good, so a good towel paired with time is the best way to dry your hair. Only shower/wash your hair when you have time to dry it in this way.

Long-haired gerbil here. I'm going to bite.

TLDR: towel for most of it, have a blow-dryer with a moderately high-heat / low-speed setting. A "cool shot" button is handy too.

Towel-dry most of it. Avoid "mashing" your hair too much. I usually just hang my head to the front/side so that the hair falls naturally, then close my hands with the towel around it and rub. If I'm tying the hair up afterwards, which happens often, I'll usually blow-dry it close to the scalp so that the humidity doesn't build up. Low speed, hot setting works best for controlling the heat on your hair, as you don't want to damage it with too much.

Hmm, back in the day I went the other way. I had a blue tube shaped (maybe Conair?) dryer with a single rotary switch that controlled both heat and fan speed. The only options were warm heat with low fan and high heat with high fan speed. I opened it up and disabled the low fan heating element which gave me low fan with no heat and high fan with warm heat.

Ding Ding we have a winner. I pony mine in the shower after the detangler. Pat it down with a towel and let it air dry before trying to brush it

The OP was a hoax, like I said.

Anyway, I got my wife a 6 pack of these microfiber hair turbans for a Christmas gift in 2013 and she loves them. Much easier to deal with than a huge bath towel wrapped around your head.

....pretty sure that's a newer model than mine. Also, mine's covered in paint and the product sticker fell off ages ago.

I wouldn't recommend it for your hair, but it's much better for shop work than the actual salon hair dryer I used to use.

I actually owned one of these rare and elusive beasts. It was truly deafening. That is, until I removed the fan and hooked it up to water cooling. I ran it for years like that and it was flawless and quiet.

Wow, had to look up the FX5800 Ultra. What an idiotic cooler design. So nice that the intake is right next to the exhaust.....and a centrifugal fan the size of a dime.
