Hey, guys. I wasn't committed to come because I've been a bit overwhelmed with work stuff, but I was still hoping to pull out a last-minute trick and make it up there somehow. Turns out I just can't swing it.

Nathan just left a little while ago, though, so the Wassons will be represented. I will peek in on the live stream on Saturday, I'm sure. Wish I could be there.

What was the expectation of the Air Zoo and how did it disappoint? I've never been, but I have thought that it would be a fun place to hit on one of my trips back to see family.
I have nothing more to say about that.

I went there thinking I'd be able to get lots of pics from good angles. All of the exhibits are too close to each other so there's no good angles. Even worse, there's no good way to see the top half of 85%+ of the collection. Finally, I'm not sure they were completely honest as to the originality of some of their pieces. There were too many exhibits with the patina of smoothed MDF rather than metal that spent 30 years in the "care" of line mechanics.

After 18 years on TR, you'd think I would be able to make it to a TR BBQ but the long drive is just too much for a weekend only thing for me. Thankfully, next year I should be living in Canada just a short 2 hour drive from the BBQ location so I should be able to come out to the next BBQ. I might even bring along some food and family of my own.

Ugh the trip has been cursed. I have spent over 24 hours in airports and flying all over the county (literally...Miami and DC from Denver) to get here. I'm am completely wiped so as much as I want to go, I'm gonna go back to sleep. The 4 additional hours to drive aren't in me after all that. I'm pissed as hell at Frontier for canceling my flight after 3.5 hours of delays...have a great time everyone. Perhaps next time I'll have better luck.

They worked around it. They just didn't specify that "it" would be moved to the floor, first.

Not only did they trash everything, they did the painting so that I couldn’t get in to do much replacing until this afternoon. So I said “screw you” took two days off to comp myself for having to work today and tomorroe. Only plus is that they’ve promised to never use these painters again.

Wife and I came, we saw, we ate, went home happy, arrived safe at home. We live about 90mins away just south of Big Rapids, (Ferris State)

Thanks to z-girl for the awesome bbq as usual.
Thanks to Dr Fish (doo doo, doo doo, doo doo) for hosting this again.

And of course thanks to Starfalcon and JBI for buying my old crap!

First time I've ever brought cash and scored and laptop upgrade for me, and replacement pc for the kiddo so he can get to killing me in HL 2 death match.

Have a great night everyone, safe travels home!

Well, some old biddy yelled at me for shooting potatoes into the lake, calling me stupid and threatening to call out the game wardens to haul me away.

She sure wasn't here 2 years ago when the "fireworks display" was much more like a live-fire rehearsal for D-Day.

"Would you prefer we put fireworks debris in the lake instead of a few chunks of potato?"

Anyhow, a HUGE shout-out to drfish and family for organizing and hosting another great event; z-girl for some of the best BBQ ribs in the known universe; Jeff for the prize pool goodies; Shoes for procuring drfish's thank-you gift and organizing donations for same; Captain Ned for hauling his potato cannon and local craft beer all the way from Vermont; and the TR Rescue Squad (Gyromancer and Captain Ned) for having my back when I thought I might be stranded in Portage, IN with car trouble!

Some interesting items at the swap meet. I sold a Socket AM3 mobo/CPU/RAM combo for $20, then turned around and spent that $20 on the heap of home brewing equipment gleek was getting rid of. Also picked up an old analog VGA LCD monitor for my test bench (great for troubleshooting old systems, as those VGA-to-HDMI converters are hit-or-miss). Starfalcon took home his usual haul of obsolete computer gear, and I guess a pretty nice sound system also changed hands at some point? I'd say it was about 50/50 PC/non-PC stuff this year.
