Kid apps for a long trip

I'm going on a long trip, both car and train, and one of the things I have to entertain my three year old girl is an iPad. I need some recommendations for apps that she can tinker with during the trip. Apps should not require an Internet connection. I prefer free but will happily buy some on recommendation. Thanks!

Our 3YO spent the whole 3 hour train ride the other day either looking out the window or sleeping.

I hope you fare well!

Please leave the devices at home and let your kids read books, play games, talk with you, fight over the line in the back seat. Constantly amused kids aren't learning to be with themselves, their siblings, or their parents. They're not going to remember the family vacation if it's filled with one more stream of apps and games on their devices.

Leapfrog makes educational apps you can download to a stand alone tablet. No Internet needed after the app is set up.

My children enjoyed them during their Pre-K years.

Get them something like Slime Rancher. Just check the screenshots here: it's colorful, funny and has lots of content. That's right enough to keep kids both entertained and engaged, that means they gonna be quiet during the trip. My 6 year old daughter likes this game even more than Minecraft. It doesn't need an internet connection as you asked, it's available on all platforms I guess.
