I thought TR had a t-shirt of a topless...toddler holding a drill. Paging @gyromancer.

TR swimsuit calendar FTW!

On a (maybe) somewhat related note, I also have a vague recollection of a late-night discussion around the fire pit at a long-past TRBBQ where it was pointed out that the "hairyjugs.com" domain name was available...

I've added this to my notes. ;)

Regarding the overall theme of this thread... Things are happening, but I can't share them quite yet. It's probably safe to say that the remaining wait will be shorter than how long you've already been waiting.

Gerbils just don't know what they're missing by not attending. This is a precious glimpse.

This thread took an unexpected turn.

So the current idea is to help finance TR with regular swimsuit calendars?

What, if we don't raise enough money, they'll make a swimsuit calendar? I'd pay up :o

Supernova events and Neutron star mergers tend to perturb local interstellar medium which leads to stellar formation. It is very likely a single event did lead to the Sun and its siblings formation.

If anyone on TR staff is listening

Since this comment made the top post, here's a quick update for those of you in the know enough to be keeping an eye on this thread.

TR "staff"
Adam - full-time elsewhere
Bruno - part time (deals and behind the scenes stuff)
Zak - part time (news and reviews as topics and hardware allow)
Eric - freelancer (mostly peripherals)
Tony - freelancer (mostly storage)
Ben - volunteering (news and reviews as time allows)
Josh - volunteering (news and reviews as time allows)
Me - volunteering (shortbread and "reviews" as time allows)

We have some other folks volunteering to help as well, like AJ and his Starlink piece, but that's it.

Day to day, it's mostly myself, Bruno, Zak, and Ben yacking it up in Slack to make sure we get at least one post up a day to keep the engine idling.

As you can see, we're still not poised to return to CPU and GPUs reviews just yet. There's only a trickle of new hardware coming in and no budget to purchase what isn't provided to us. I believe that will change, but I'm not sure what exact form it will take, and I can't tell you the bits I do know yet. I hate to say keep waiting, but keep waiting. Something new is coming soon.

Thanks for the update. That advertising no longer pays the bills is sad, because ads are annoying. Adds are not working for newspapers, and magazines either.

That's one way to think about the situation.

I prefer to think of it as a ragtag team fighting against the odds and holding out until reinforcements arrive.

Not to be pessimistic, but I'm feeling a little HL3 vibe lately. Any idea when the cavalry may arrive?

I do have to say the TR bot on Facebook is doing the site no favors. I've seen at least a few people post that they're tired of seeing old articles. If people are posting that, then there are likely many more unfollowing due to it.

I just stopped clicking all of them on Twitter since I assume they are all old. I missed the last mouse review by a few days because I didn't think it was recent. Even the word "ARCHIVE" or "In case you missed it" or something in the posting would be an easy enough identifier.

All I know about the bots is that they are in some way related to the aforementioned "cavalry" above. None of us who write stuff on the front page know anything about them.

I would write up some stuff I'm working with, but my content would probably work better at Phoronix than TR.

Then again, some of the very best Destiny 2 content on the web is consistently put up by a guy at FORBES, of all places.
Please don't edit my signature for me. Thanks.

Thanks for this. It's very appreciated.

TR is the first Web site to which I've "subscribed", and this is why.
