If he wanted to win one of those shows, I'd just have my 2-year old hit him in the nuts with a wiffle ball bat.

somehow those are always the ones who win - the people voting must all be mother with small children.

JBI - i will consider is a missed opportunity!

Been there before, emkubed ? I guess parents and athletes alike should always wear protection down there.

Damn, I was going to tell you to keep it as your pirate bird. No parrots for you just pigeons.

Leor the NYC pirate with pigeon on shoulder. We could always pretend it's still yours. :D

That's a much funnier event if you let him use an aluminum bat!

You know, this suggests a whole new use for empty slots in a server rack. Pigeon coop, obviously, but even better would be a heptarium. Imgaine a boa or iguana curled up behind plexi, basking in the radiant heat from the servers and RAID disks above and below...

(And yeah, you could try the tropical aquarium / water-cooling reservoir, but good luck not killing the fish)

This is a classic!

If the bird hopped in there to get away from the cats, maybe just getting the cats out of the room and closing the door will get him to come out. Maybe isolate the room, and leave a plate of birdseed. Come back in 15 minutes and pounce on 'em with a pillow case and set him free.

That's the first smart idea I read here. 8)

Being the owner of two Amazon parrots (or is it being owned by 2 amazon parrots?), I can safely say, "It's what birds do."

Up until I met my wife, I was a strict cat and dog person. However, she came with birds - when I asked her to move up to Seattle with me, she said, "OK, but as long as my parrots can come." Therefore, I got them as well. However, while one of the birds is a little @#$@#$ head, they're both quite nice to have around.

The house has never been the same, though...

You obviously missed the "locked in the basement naked with the cat thread" :o

I won't mention the posters name. BUT...you know who you are.

Thankfully in leor's little adventure everyone had their clothes on. :D

Great story though!

Well... we don't actually know that, do we? All we can see of leor is part of his arm in one of the pics, and no clothing is visible. Maybe he's into nude pigeon hunting? :o

And the cats weren't wearing anything either. Nor, for that matter, was the pigeon.

Kinky...

Wait a minute, I understand everything now!

Someone was just trying to send you an RFC 1149 packet! Did you examine those bits the pigeon left to reconstruct the originating IP?
UberGerbil's idea also makes perfect sense in this context... As it is now, you have only recieved a ping, you are unable to send your own packets out.

Oh god I am such a geek

Yep, I've seen that before. I was more thinking about the fact that I could recall from memory that #1149 was the funny pigeon one. But you're right, doesn't hold a candle to actually doing it.

Just imagine if Grace Murray Hopper (http://www.wordiq.com/definition/Grace_Hopper) had had this happen to her instead of the moth; we'd all be debirding programs.
