Just got into these guys recently... they're pretty good musically... nothing overly fancy, just good, solid rock played nice and tight.
Lyrically I think they're trying a bit too hard to be "satanic" and at times it just starts to sound silly; I'd be curious to hear what they could do if they dropped the devil shtick and just played.

Its recipe includes goat shoulder, red wine reduction, and a communion wafer. Local Catholic institutions have called the burger "tasteless" and demanded Kuma's Corner to remove it from the menu. The restaurant's owner acknowledged the controversy and stated they respected religion while refusing to remove the burger, citing the First Amendment. To demonstrate his respect for opposing views, he also donated $1,500 to Catholic Charities of the Chicago Archdiocese.

Soen's debut Cognitive (2012) was very good, but also overtly derivative of Tool. With each subsequent album they have evolved a little, refined their approach, and increasingly stepped out of Tool's shadow to find their own voice. On this, their fourth album, everything really comes together. The playing (which has always been excellent), songwriting, vocals, production, and pacing of more aggressive tracks interspersed with quieter ones, all just click. IMO this is a fan-damn-tastic slab of prog metal goodness.
A couple of tracks:

A Soft Machine album in name only, with none of the original members. Vaguely new-agey keyboard-driven fusion with a lot of synths and strings. Has its moments, but in general not all that memorable. Just picked it up because I'm a sucker for anything with Allan Holdsworth on it, but his role here is pretty minimal. This was out of print and very hard to find for years, but was apparently reissued in remastered form a few years back.

These guys have been one of my go-to bands since the 80's - just raw, aggressive, in your face thrash metal... Blitz is starting to show his age on vocals a bit.
