Phutureprimitive- Cryogenic Dreams

I'm not much into dubstep at all, but I really do like a lot of his tunes. Got to see him live with Bass Physics earlier this year. It was LOUD; my ears rang for 2 days afterwards. But fun stuff!
A most unfortunate, Freudian, double entendre is that hotel named "Budget Inn."

Currently listening to Greed and Vanity by Celesty, and wishing my new receiver didn't need a full restoration so soon after I bought it. Sure, it's 40 years old, and I did get a good deal, but still...

IMO this is a band that doesn't get the respect it deserves. Prog-heads consider them to be sellouts (you can argue that they went too pop -- even verging on bublegum -- in their later years), and yeah their earlier albums can seem a little too self-consciously artsy (and often suffer from leaden, plodding arrangements... their screaming, trash-the-joint extended cover of Roll Over Beethoven on their second album being a notable exception). But all that aside, IMO "Eldorado" through "Out of the Blue" are excellent, successfully walking the line between art rock and pop.

Oh, and I am playing all three of the Animals As Leaders albums, in order. How the heck have I not listened to any of their stuff before yesterday? Way too much great new music being released on small indie labels these days to have any hope of keeping up with it all.

I heard that playing on the radio as I was waiting in line at a business this afternoon.  It's a catchy tune.

P.S.:  The rest of that Triumph live set is really good, too... unless it's just the Magic Power of the beer in me.

Triumph is underrated. I think a lot of people dismissed them as Rush-wannabes ("oh look, another hard rock power trio from Toronto with a high-pitched vocalist"), but they made some great music. "Just A Game" and "Allied Forces" are classics.

Yup! And I'll probably go deaf before I hit 50 thanks to songs like this.  :)

Hey, I didn't go deaf. But I can't hear anything above ~15 kHz any more.

So... if you're listening to it by yourself (e.g. in the car), do you sing along? Inquiring minds want to know.

Sure do! There'd be far fewer shrinks in the world if more people would just learn to sing along. LOUDLY!

I've come into possession of every single album by Van Morrison, and I'm currently going through each one and picking out the songs I like.  There are so many good songs.  Van Morrison is supremely talented.  I am truly amazed at how many excellent songs he has done.  Even his more recent stuff is fantastic; it isn't only his older stuff that's great.

This is everywhere around me lately and I'm glad for it. The video for this version of the song is cute as hell; what an era for music videos!

---

@thread: DJ Shadow feat. Run The Jewels - Nobody Speak. The video for this is fun. NSFW language.

Apparently this is a video-themed post, so a few more:

C2C - Delta - gorgeous animation w/a straightforward tale, and C2C's turnablism is infectious (see these four live if you can).
Junip - Your Life Your Call - weird low-budget slightly discomfiting (potentially NSFW) Twin Peaksian vignette (gasps for air) with drone-underlaid folk rock.

I'm finishing up a pool room and the table's coming soon so I have my ancient 1200 (w/new plated faceplate to match my fixtures & fasteners) spinning Anduin's Stolen Years right now in anticipation. If you like music concrete, ambient, IDM, etc, give it a try. Found sounds & field recordings with pulsating synth drones mixed really nicely with slow contemplative sax riffs from Jimmy Graphery. A great track is Dyadic Twenty Seven (the whole album's there to listen to, official). Also, there's a lovely, evocative run of screenprints included w/the CD and LP (which are still available), the creation of which was detailed here. Of my favorite albums, this is probably my most frequently-played.

Been having that issue off and on these past couple of weeks too. My office is in the basement, and critters (both 4- and 6-legged) like the window well.
