The Beatles - [Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band] - #01 - Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band
I'm actually a "Stones > Beatles" guy, but this album is so good I make an exception fairly often.
SPLHCB and Abbey Road
are my "go to" Beatles albums.
Random ranting inspired by your post follows...The White Album
gets a lot of praise, but to me it feels like a meandering, disjointed mess. IMO it's an exercise in drug-induced self-indulgence with flashes of (probably also drug-induced?) brilliance interspersed. Could've made a great album if they'd edited it down to single album length, but as released there's just too much random filler.
I feel Fleetwood Mac's Tusk
suffers from the same malaise. It's a disjointed self-indulgent mess of a double album with some really good bits, coming on the heels of what is widely acknowledged to be their definitive statement as a band.
