Re: What are you drinking RIGHT NOW?=TONS

Sat Nov 08, 2008 6:20 am

It's been months, if not yearts since my last PUI.l..

SO... I started at my frisend's house tonight with a Coors Light.. **** beer but that's all they had. Drank about half of it(fr some reason the aftertaste reminded mae of a cookie) and moved on to a game of Beeer Pong (Beirut). 3 beers per side, 2 players per side. Won the game. Then we played Kings Cup. I fixed myself a Jager and RedBull (7-count of Jager in a speed pourer and a full rRedBull). Made it thru the game. Another game of Beer Pong. only 2 beers per side. Another Jager+redBull. (heh, writing that, I feel like I've written it for Java). Another game of King's cup and I decided that my liver might niot appreciate a third RedBull for the nightg. Instead I mixed Bacardi Superior, Malibu Passion Fruit and Red Gatorade (I know, not the bartender's choice but that's kinda all tehey had left). Moderately tasty, so I sipped on it whenever I want' playing Ber Pong. Everyone else seemed to get REAL drunk. I was just getting started...but they were getting DONE with drinking and passing out n ****. A few troopers stayed with me and we played more p[ong. We reduced the numbers of beers, and the numbers of cups. don't think we ever played with more than six cups, and usually onely one more beer per side. Nonetheless, we played another four games like that. Various partners, varioous rules. Whtevs. can't begin to accurately estimate the number of **** coors lits I"ve consumed, but it's on the order of 12-14. Plus the Jager, pLus the Bacardi. One of te girls challenged me to "shot-pong'. I figured "eff-it, why play pong when we can just take our shots.' She agreed and we each took 2 more shots of Jager. yummmmm. I can'tr say I like black licorice witha passion, but Jagert and me have an understanding with each other. Its not as bad as all the freshmaen thingk it is.

DD's are great. When I forst started typing this post I started making a greilled cheese. Flipped it OK but typed a bit too much and kinda half burnt the seconds side. Still cheesey and tasty.

What am I drinking RIGHT NOW? My personal hangover prevention juice: in a large glass, 1/2 Red Gatorade, 1/2 water, mix in a packet of Emergen-C. I'll be up in 7 hours, give or take, feeling perfeclty OK, and having this post to refer to for the lapses in my memory of the night.

Woodchuck Draft Cider. Kinda sweet. I like drier ciders better.

They also make a cider from Granny Smiith apples. It's definitely more tart, if that appeals to ya.

Is it just me or does that taste different than regular Diet Coke? And not in a good way?

Yeah it's "sweeter" tasting is my wife's comment. I like it well enough though.

I knew it. I like the idea of stuffing vitamins in Diet Coke (since I drink at least one can a day), but why change the flavor in the process? :-?

Sam Adams Octoberfest. I love this beer, maybe even more than the Winter (we'll have to see when the Winter comes out). Are there any similar brews to Octoberfest 'ya'all can steer me to?

Well... you could try some traditional German Bock and/or Doppelbock (Double Bock) beers. They're similar to Octoberfest in that they're lagers, not extremely bitter (emphasis is on malt rather than hops), and tend to have a toasty malt character. They just kick it up a notch or two -- more malt, more alcohol.

Vita "Less Sweetend" Lemon Tea in a little 250ml box.

Apparently here in Hong Kong marketers don't know how to translate Reduced Sugar.

Taste the same as the regular kind though, hopefully its not the melamine.

I have just tried some red wine from Italy and will attempt to switch to that.

Not liking the taste of beer I tend to drink scotch, Glenlevet, for effect.

Maybe with the wine I can turn myself into a social drinker.

Time will tell.

I wish I could afford J Dub Red as a basic, but a comparison of my consumption levels to my bank balance argues for a lower-cost alternative. For the moment, it's Passport Scotch.

The cheapest I will go is Dewars, however I drink Kesslers which is about $8 and is basic whiskey

Today at the supermarket I picked up a six pack of Otter Creek Copper Ale. It says it's craft brewed (?) in Middlebury, Vermont.

Otter Creek's website wrote:
COPPER ALE

Our year 'round flagship brew is Copper Ale, a medium bodied, amber ale inspired by the Altbiers of Northern Germany. Brewed with six different malts, three hop varieties and our special house yeast, Copper Ale is characterized by a well-balanced blend of malty notes and mild bitterness.

(OG: 1050, 21 IBU)

This is a very tasty beer. I recommend trying it if you can find it in your area. My supermarket only carries this and their IPA (I don't like IPAs) so I'll have to find another place that sells OC so I can try their other stuff.
