It's really quite good and refreshing.

Shot of Redemption Rye with a Revolution Anti-Hero IPA chaser.

I'll probably bring some Revolution beers to the BBQ.

TripleTail. The citrusy and piney hops are dominant, leaving only a trace of the "tropical" flavor of the beer.

Revolution Citra Hero IPA

Nice clean IPA, with a Citra (duh!) hop character.

Drinking some of the leftovers of the beer I took to the BBQ. If you're ever in Chicago, check out Revolution Brewing. They have both a tap room (at the brewery) and a restaurant, on the north side of town.

Have you ever had a Berliner Weisse before? They are supposed to be very tart (lactobacillus fermentation).

So if your objection to it is that it is too sour, you'll want to avoid anything that claims to be a Berliner Weisse in the future. And Gose too (similar to a Berliner Weisse, but with a hint of sea salt).

You can also scratch Gueuze off your list. Think Berliner Weisse, but even more sour, with a moderate to prominent barnyard note.

Revolution Anti-Hero IPA

Still drinking leftovers from the assorted Chicago craft beers I took to the BBQ!

I poured the remaining half-bottle of that drek down the drain. Life is too short to drink terrible beer.

I have switched to 420, instead.

I'm old, and I switch off between Diet Mt. Dew and beer (depending on day of the week and hour of the day).

It was delicious. They were on sale at Publix for $6 for the 6-pack. I like almost all of the Smirnoff flavors, but this definitely threaded the line nicely with the Mango flavor not being overpowering (which is easy). Then again, I used to eat Mango fresh of the tree growing up, so it had a nice nostalgia flavor for me.

Well after seeing it recommended in the Shortbread, I decided to pick up a bottle of Blanton's. However, the store I go to has not had any since December, and it's a pretty big store...

So instead I'm enjoying Four Roses Small Batch. Simple, but tasty.

Water. Yes, I know it is not something interesting, but I prefer it to anything else really.

Finally snagged a 6-pack of Zima after last having it around 2008 and then missing out on last summer's limited re-release. Still tastes like a malted Sprite, and still hits the spot on a hot summer night when you don't want to be hitting the harder stuff.

Around the time the popularity of Zima peaked, there was a magazine article about making a homebrewed version from scratch. IIRC it involved brewing a light ale, then treating it with activated carbon slurry to strip out nearly all the color and "beery" flavor, filtering, then adding citrus oil. At the time, it fell squarely into the category of "you would only do this to prove you can, because why would you go to all that trouble to make something you can buy at the local convenience store". Now that it isn't being mass-produced any more, maybe it's time for you to take up homebrewing.

I kind of wondered what was in it, exactly. Any speculation on how Coors makes the stuff? I imagine activated charcoal filtration is a bit tedious for volume production. Distillation and re-dillution, maybe?
