Yeah, it's a D&D dragon. The original pic is here. I would have like a little more customization with the design, but the guy that did it, although a great tattoo artist, didn't seem as into it as others might have been. I'm going to have the next one done by someone else and get an original design based on one of those other two rather than what amounts to an almost direct copy.

That having been said, I really like the dragon I've got. It's just different from what I had initially expected. =)

This was a present to myself for my first nationally-published PC game review. I imagine i'll keep expanding upon it (possibly a ghost on the other arm) when i hit other milestones with the journalism thing :)

Edit: Oh yeah, the topic:

I'm getting Clan Ghost Bear crest on left shoulder (at joint), 'SPQR' on left bicep, and Chaos Cross over my heart. Haven't gotten any done yet, but that has everything to do with lack of time/funds and nothing to do with lack of desire.

I sitll want a tattoo or three on my back/shoulders :( A dart frog (life size, so very small), a stylized cross with the crown of thorns and something relating to my wife are the three I want. But damnit they're expensive! I've never bothered to save up the dough, so I guess I don't want them as badly as I thought.

possibly. i've been doodling with it in black block to keep with the theme (all my tats are black) but it never seems to look quite right. I shall keep trying though :)

Are you looking at a character or a symbol?

BTW I added the new pics to OP to track progress
Probably both, maybe hte FFT logo with Ramza and Delita in the BG or something. Maybe a kickass contemporary do up of Agrias with her sword, something, if someone drew something I loved I'd get it. New job = Mo money = Mo problems.

That's really coming together, looks very very sweet. I'd given some thought to getting a leg sleeve done, would you be OK with sharing a breakdown of the pricing/time involved so far, and maybe guess some projections out to completion? I'd heard that sleeves could easily run out into the low to mid four-digit ranges.

Sure, I've done three sessions so far, and probably at least three more are remaining. Probably 4 more because the last session will fill/touch ups. Each session lasts about three to three and half hours. Anymore than that it gets too uncomfortable to sit and the leg gets swollen from all the trauma. All told it will probably run me $1800 - $2000.

Very cool. A little more time and cash than I'm likely to sink into ink, at least early on, but very very cool nonetheless.

I'm actually half considering getting a decent gun and dyes, it would be cheaper in the long run (mostly kidding).

Man, after seeing the progress your sleeve is making, I'm seriously thinking about getting some gaming tattoos to go along with my dragon. It's too bad the guy doing your stuff is in Florida; he does really good work.

Heh, good call. Actually, if I want to get a tattoo on vacation, I'm gonna need to find a good artist in New Orleans. I think that's where the wife and I are going to be going for our 1 year anniversary. We each got tattoos when we got married, so it might be really cool to do the same for the 1 year.... of course, you'd run out of room eventually. =)

Wedding traditions are fun. You don't have to do new tats every year, just make it for the big ones. 1, 5, 10, 15 and 20.

My wife and I have our own tradition for our anniversary. Thankfully, it's not quite as permanent as yours. :)

From the looks of it the $1800 was well spent. The level of detail in the artwork is impressive. It is better to spend the extra few hundred dollars than to be left with a tat not up to your "expectations".

I bet that sleeve will get some recommendations for the guy/girl who did it.

It looks really, really crap. Gonna be fun when you don't like those games anymore and you still have the stupid cartoons of them on your leg isn't it?

Mortal Kombat II came out like 15 years ago. I don't think that at this point he's going to lose his affection for the game or his nostalgia for the events in his life surrounding it.

Even if you don't like tattoos and think they are a bad idea it's clear the PerfectCR is a grown man who has made a personal choice based on what he enjoys in life. Let it be man, stop the hate.

He's not some half-drunk 18 year old girl getting a ideogram because she think it's 'pretty.' You might have some sort of point then, but right now? You're just acting like a jerk.

The ink is a take it or leave it deal. I don't particularly care for it, but mostly because I'm not a real fan of ink in general. It's absolutely ludicrous to think that someone's going to "not like those games anymore" when many of them you probably haven't played in years anyway. I would think that it's obvious that the ink isn't about what you like now but what you've enjoyed over the years.

Tattoos are always fun to admire on someone else...not something I'm going to get for myself...but neat to see.
