derFunkenstein wrote:Heck yeah, but even better is the opera scene...for an SNES game, it's still surprisingly moving today, and it's probably partly nostalgia, but entirely awesome. The "decisive battle" behind Narshe has some really cool music, too. And the ending, espeically if you take the time to find everyone in the WoR so that you can see what happened to all of them.
Other note-able notables:
Final Fantasy VII
Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete
Disgaea: Hour of Darkness
We <3 Katamari (Katamari on the Rocks is hilarious, if you like Mog's theme)
Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete
Super Contra (10x better than the original, blasphemy to some I guess)
Streets of Rage 1 and 2 (especially 2, especially all of levels 1 and 2 and the ending)
Sonic 2 (especially the Mystic Cave zone and the Casino Night zone)
Starcraft (especially the Protoss and Radio Free Zerg)
Some of the best game music is what people have done with it after its release. The Final Fantasy Piano collections, the Black Mages albums, The Very Best of SEGA, and lots of other game CD's I have. The better-than-in-game-quality OST's included with the Lunar games were fantastic, but I give a huge thumbs-down to the OSV CD included with Final Fantasy Anthology...if I wanted the SNES version I'd play the game.
