So, i just turned 21. I know most of ya'll are twice as young as i am now, but i'm happy to have finally reached a point where people will no longer say, "your just a baby." when i say how old I am. Also, unfortunately i'm working tonight, and monday i'm working on the box. Maybe Tuesday i'll do something. However regardless of all that, it's time for all of the gerbils to shoot some prime beverage names my way so i can start learning the trade.

I suggest you skim the "what are you drinking" thread for ideas! (The two DYMTs are probably pretty good sources of booze info as well, but the signal-to-noise ratio isn't as good...)

37 here... 21 seems like ancient history.

If you want to put hair on your chest try "Storm King" It's rated "100" on the beer enthusiasts list and is around 10% alcohol. It's a beer you can chew

I'll be 30 in July and my mother and her friends STILL say that about me. People who are older than you will still call you "just a baby" until you're about 40, and then your parents will still at least call you "my baby" until you die. Or they die.

I'm 21 too , almost, in June ) is a good age for having fun and learning new things.enjoy it !

Actually TR has a significant amount of older people, such that I'd guess the average age is around 30. We have very few, if any at 12-year olds. That being said, I'm 24 (turning 25 in 2 months), and I'm still just a baby

My youngest son is 21.5 yrs. old.

If you're interested in a good smooth single-malt Scotch whisky, I'm partial to Macallan 12-year-old. Bruichladdich is good too if you want something peatier.

No, don't do that. You'll regret it. My drink of chioce is Sailor Jerry and Coke. Pretty tough to beat.

I am 18, but in Scotland that's the age that you can drink. I must be very young compared to a lot of people here.

Drinking isnt half as much fun when you turn 21 and dont have to sneak around to do it anymore. Its my birthday in a couple of days and I will be older than dirt 32 sucks

That said, Rum and coke is a great place to start.

I recommend trying a Redhook brand ale if you have them in your area. My favorite is Winterhook.. mmmmm

Yeah, my birthday is in a couple of weeks as well. And 21 is long past.

Don't feel bad about not doing some wild-ass bender for your 21st. My 21st birthday I was studying for a test. I went out, had one beer (Guinness) and went back to studying.

As for booze... I'm partial to Rum & Cokes. With Captain Morgan rum if possible. (ask for a "captain and coke" at your bar. They'll hook you up. Nobody seems to like the name I was taught: Coke and Dagger)

That's a pretty long list, i better get started early monday morning(my weekend).

Huh. We call that a "Morgan and Coke" around here. Not bad, but I think that Southern Comfort and Coke (SoCo and Coke) is better.

It might be worth trying some of the classic cocktails like a Manhattan, Old Fashioned, Collins, Gimlet etc to see if you like them and also to learn about the different kinds of tasty distillates.
