No invite yet. :(

BTW SHOES, Genghis it cool with driving too if he goes (not 100% sure yet), in fact he's possibly willing to haul an enclosed trailer behind us in the event we find our way to Ikea, err, I mean if we score a lot of swag... ;)

Ian, did the SF invite say anything about the time of the event that we might be able to apply to the Chicago one?

Oh no, I was trying not to think about Fry's...

Anyway, I got my invite, with a time from 7-9... Is that AM or PM? Both are kind of impractical, the latter means I didn't have to take the day off... :-?

Answers.

The event is from 7PM-9PM, however we are opening registration early, at 6:30PM. And we will linger past 9PM.

It is easy to get lost in large cities, I would come early. If you line up a bit early we may take mercy on your souls.

If I were you I would definitely come to the event. Definitely.

We will take photos and video, and you have to sign a form that says we can.

You really can bring a friend. If you have another friend who is dying to come, have them register on this forum and request an invite. Quickly.

We look forward to seeing you there. Travel Safe. And thanks to The Tech Report for helping us out.

Maybe those of us going to the Boston schtick can meet up for dinner or somethin', if our travel plans match up (I don't know when I'll get there). Any ideas?

Sounds good to me. An early dinner before the event would be cool, then we'd still get home before midnight.

Also, I just RSVPed now, and that's when it tells you it's an evening event... :-?

Oh well, really looking forward to it! :D

Edit: We should plan times and food ASAP, I'm thinking we leave from my house around 10 and no later than 12. Also, I'm willing to let Ian pick where we should eat but we should probably get dinner no later than 5. Lastly, if there's time, I've still never made it to Old Town Aquarium but I hear it's on of the best aquarium shops in the nation... ;)

Shoes and Dr. Fish,

I have no problem driving... and dare I say -- I have been somewhat successful navigating Chi-Town in the past. If we plan on scoring a trailer full of spoils there in Chicago, I will take the Jeep and the covered trailer. The only issue is carrying spoils in and about town. Aside from security issues, it is much more challenging to park in those scenarios, as you don't normally get much love with a trailer.

So, there are some options we might have. Parking outside the town and running the "el" or renting camels. I'm open to other ideas, of course. Having already tried camels, I'm up for anything new.

You can PM Kevin about your username and he'll fix it. I was wondering what that was about...

Let's chat on Steam tonight about the details...

What, pray tell, is an 'incorrect invite'?

The one I got was for San Fran, and I'm in Chicago. Not that it matters now, since I absolutley MUST go to this dance with my daughters or they'd be crushed.

You're absolutely right. Go to the dance, enjoy yourself, enjoy the time with your daughters. Computers will still be around to tinker with the rest of your life. Daughters, on the other hand, we only get one chance with them.

Thanks everyone. We still have a few openings.

Tech Report has been religious about getting them to us.

We are in San Francisco - gear has arrived, setup has begun. Don't be the one kicking yourself in the morning because you skipped out. Get your info in NOW for San Francisco.

I will be working Friday morning to make sure we have the last of you registered. We are going to have great attendance for Tech Report at all three locations. Look forward to having you there.

Travel safe, don't get lost, be early.

Going to the bar was more fun :)

The directions to the SF event are fairly borked. The invite reads "385 Moraga Avenue, Fort Mason Center, Herbst International Pavilion, The Presidio, SF 94105".

Those four locations are about a mile from one another. I'm going to the Herbst with my fingers crossed.

Edit: Make that five locations - 94105 zip is in the middle of the financial district and nowhere near the other four.
