What are you driving RIGHT NOW?

Sure, it's not a car forum, but we talk about 'em anyway. Post your ride and the Cliff's Notes of any mods; include a pic if you like (but don't forget to obliterate any registration marks such as license plates -- and remember, a swirl or two is not an obliteration, it can be unswirled).

On the road for business this week, and got yourself a rental? Great: In about five lines, what is it and how is it treating you? Got Grandma's Grand Marquis this week for some reason? Show us a burnout pic, and bonus points if Grandma is behind the wheel. Etc.

Here's my daily driver from mid-April to mid-November:

Image

1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS with 10th Anniversay Edition trim, Elite Salon 18x8.5 split 5-spoke wheels (Craigslist), Tokiko struts with Eibach lowering springs (Craigslist again), Ingalls camber kit, Magnaflow stainless performance muffler, K&N OE-replacement air filter, miscellaneous "crystal smoke" lens replacements & LED lighting mods. The rest is OE.

Now show me yours.

Same thing I have been driving for the last almost six years. 2005 Dodge Ram CTD. Up to 176,000 miles now.

Here's my 2010 Subaru Impreza WRX.

Everything is OE. She's my year-round daily driver, and as is can burn pretty much anything on the road even if I don't try, so there's no need to upgrade just yet (plus I have no money, heh). If I had to do a mod, I'd fix the 'feature' of the throttle and brake pedals placement. I've also wanted to drill a hole in the roof to add a radio antenna, but my fear has so far kept that mod on the back burner. If I get into biking enough, maybe I'll add a roof rack.

Daily driver for me...2003 Chevy Blazer given to me by my dad last year.

Once I get full time work, I plan on getting a motorcycle next year.

Loaded 2010 Focus SES. Heated leather, 9 speaker stereo with sub/amp, 5 speed manual, sync, sunroof. Basically every option you can get minus the craptastic 3 speed automatic. Paid $17,100 for it brand new last november and its gets 35mpg avg for me. I normally drive 'nicer' cars, but with what I paid, features, gas mileage etc, it does its job of getting me to work and back.

Image

I'm also working on finishing the restoration/hotrodding of my 1980 VW Scirocco S. Still trying to get ahold of early chrome bumpers or a set of euro bumpers that will do the rest of the car justice.

Here is my current vehicle, got this photo somewhere else in the forums but can't remember where.

Its a Ford Falcon FG (late 2008) XR8 Falcon Ute, pretty much standard except for a new exhaust, they just come out of the factory far too quiet for a V8, lots of fun to drive with the 5.4 putting out 290kW and having a clutch. Sometimes it can be too much fun when its wet as I have to short shift when accelerating hard to maintain traction.

You could be driving a clapped out old piece of crap and our hoon laws here in WA could get you. It's all about how you drive over here.

Just thought I'd add a couple of extra shots of my ute. It was asked for in another thread and I this is the best spot for them rather than hijack the other thread.

2006 350Z Touring. It is a 6spd. It has nearly all the bells and whistles (Grand Touring has a few more) like leather, heated seats, Bose sound, etc. It's been my daily driver for about 3 years now.

I'm driving the 2010 Jetta TDI I bought last January.
Despite the PMs and comments I got from that, it has yet to explode and make me curse the name Volkswagen forever.

These pictures are from when I got it

2001 Nissan Altima GXE SE. Nothing special, but it's very reliable and pretty decent on gas. Great acceleration for a four banger, too. Maybe next year I'll work on getting my motorcycle endorsement and a nice beginners sport bike.

I just got this May 31st... loving it to death so far, I hope it holds together better than the Mazda I got rid of. :-?

And of course, the most important part:

Same here, same year. Great car, nothing exciting but gets me from A to B...have 152,000 miles on it and still running strong.

My ride's a 2005 GD1 Honda Jazz 1.3S - daily-driven and track-proven. This is basically what Americans call the Fit. However, in place of the 1.5L L15A1 VTEC engine (which came two years after the Fit/Jazz was launched in Europe and Japan), mine has the original, smaller 1.3L L13A3 i-DSI twin-spark mill.
Image

Mechanically, it's all stock. The only real mods I have are:
Tanabe brake pads
Image

Momo Fighter steering wheel + Recaro SRD seats + BRIDE RO-type rails
Image

Rota Circuit 10 wheels, 16x7 +45 offset.
Image

I've since replaced these with stock Honda/Enkei wheels, 15x6 +53 offset, because of lighter weight and cheaper rubber.

Heh. Actually, the TDI drivetrains are usually a cut above their other stuff, and in the worst case, you can usually get a pretty nice resale premium as compared to equivalent gasoline-engine models. I'm thinking about losing the DSM in my OP due to the high, and continuing, maintenance costs, and I briefly looked at a couple Golf TDIs near the 2000 vintage...but didn't want to spend $10-15k for an otherwise small and very average commuter hatchback with 100k+ miles :o

Out: the 2G DSM from my OP. Fun while it lasted, didn't last. Maybe if it had been a turbo.

In: 2002 Celica GT-S with the 2ZZ-GE engine, 6-speed manual, and a 1.5" drop:

Image

Image

This should hold me for a while. Has the engine dynamics of a motorcycle, and nicely fills in for that 1988 Corolla GT-S that I had for seven years and still miss.

A lowly 2002 Kia Spectra sedan (Auto).

It gets great mileage, that's about it. It is certainly a step from my previous 1993 Ford Escort Wagon.

2010 Prius. More gadgets than Darth Vader's bathroom (but not, alas, the automatic parallel parking nor solar battery charger).

On nice days, I ride a 2006 Kawasaki Nomad.

If I were a Powerball winner, this would be a fitting ride:

Image

However, the daily driver is a 2010 Subaru Legacy GT. Pic isn't actually my car, but is same color & trim (let some other chowderhead put his plate on the 'Net).

by just brew it!
Depending on the day of the week (we shuffle cars around based on gas mileage, who is expected to drive the farthest, and how much crap and/or how many people need to be hauled), I drive one of:
- 1998 Toyota Corolla
- 2000 Nissan Altima
- 2002 Chrysler Town & Country mini-van

Yes, our newest vehicle is 9 years old. If you've got kids in college who need assistance with tuition and expenses, you probably understand how this works.

2005 Civic Hybrid. She's not much to look at (but she's paid for!), so I'll spare you. Most trouble-free car I've ever had.
