I've been getting about 2 a day starting yesterday, why does TR have certificate warnings for their site?

Not sure what you're after here. TR as a website doesn't even have an SSL cert or HTTPS:// for their website:

nmap -sS -P0 -v techreport.com -p443

Starting Nmap 4.62 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2012-02-09 04:10 UTC

Host unknown212.65.200.74.defenderhosting.com (74.200.65.212) appears to be up ... good.

Then why am I getting the popup? ...an explanation is what I'm after, what do you think i'm after? what kind of loaded question is that?

by just brew it!
I'm not seeing any warnings. As thegleek points out, TR doesn't even *use* HTTPS (so there's no certificate to warn about in the first place).

Is it possible you've installed some sort of browser extension that warns whenever you go to a site that requests login info, and the site *doesn't* use a security certificate?

Please provide a screenshot of one of the warnings you're getting.

You did not provide a whole lot of details. Not much to go on, really, other than the obvious that you should not be getting those warnings just from visiting TR. No need to get indignant.

Did you try starting with a fresh instance of your browser, with no other websites open in other tabs? Maybe TR is not the site giving you the warnings. Impossible to know unless you post more details about the actual warning.

You could try this program from Sysinternals (now Microsoft) to see where your browser is connecting: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysi ... s/bb897437

If you actually get a certificate warning, use a browser that lets you view the certificate it warns about and you will have your answer. If anything you might have run afoul of some ad-network bug or an ad hijack. Or more likely, a browser hijack by something you did on another side.

IE 9 has only given me a warning on TR once, and that wasn't a certificate warning, but rather a malware warning (probably caused by an infected ad, which was a problem awhile back).

What browser are you using?
