Ah. Strange: I did a forum search. Maybe that only searches titles? Dunno.

It was a link posted without much explanation other than "yay science" so it probably wouldn't show up.
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

Move out of the way 4G wireless and bring on mass driven HB wireless spec!!!! PROGRESS!!!!!!

Or...

stabilised fusion energy (net positive)

Or...

mass driven PORN! (probably the first thing they'll use this new discovery for...)

etc.

Probably something more creative than my tuscan wine driven mind can dribble up will be the actual net result from finally making this discovery so that particle physics can move forward.

Anyway I look forward to whatever tech this may bring about in the next 20-30+ yrs

I want to see a better explanation of gravity. Is that next?

Just because they found something doesn't mean they fully understand it. I doubt there will be any instantaneous epiphanies, but that doesn't mean it won't happen either.

Not until you can find a way to bring gravity into the quantum world. Start with finding gravitons and gravitational waves.
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

If they wanted to find dark matter all they had to do was look behind my fridge.

All they need to do is find a 2-spin boson ! LOL !

You realize that particle physicists only just found evidence in their readings that points to the existence of Higgs Boson, based on what was predicted by the model (decay products, energy levels). They haven't actually "found" it yet with 100% certainty.

That's going to require more testing, experimentation and ruling out every other possibility. I don't expect concrete results appearing for a few more years.

Simply put, particle physicists are on the right trail on finding the "Higgs Boson" and are only getting warmer.

The whole announcement is just PR that is getting hype up by the mass media.

Still, a tip of the hat to the CERN team is in order for their achievement.

At the same time, without additional comment, I simply take a moment to recall what might have been.

It is a damm shame too and now Fermilab has closed shop.
