If I recall correctly, the life expectancy of workers there is like 25 years old. They come there, work a few years, make money for their family, then die.

If not this one, then a similar one elsewhere. Rough stuff, that sulfur mining!

I'm surprised that any of the photographer's equipment survived in those conditions. That looks like a horrific place to be.

Seems like the rough working conditions have been covered already by posters so I'll just chime in with: Wow, look at the molten sulfur! It looks very alien with that blue color. If I didn't know any better, I'd say that was the work of photoshop or CGI.

There are jobs worth saving, and jobs worth outsourcing. This is neither, this is an industry best left to other nations to run. At least until cleaner-running yet economic extraction becomes possible.
