Upgrades...

Had a little extra $$, so I grabbed another 512mb stick of Corsair PC2100 ECC Reg memory for a grand total of 1GB of ram. 8)

Also grabbed a new PSU, 550watt Antec True Power. Feel the power...

This should hold me off until I get some Opteron action. :lol:

So what upgrades are you guys planning right now?

Right now, nothing. But as soon as a decent dual Opteron board comes out (and the prices of the Opteron itself drop a tad) I'll be looking to replace my dual Xeon 400.

I probably won't upgrade anything for a good several months. If anything it'll be a new video card.

Been wanting to upgrade for a while but still can't justify replacing my relatively 'new' AXP 1800+. :wink: $$ seems short these days. :(

I'm waiting for price drops and more 400mhz Bartons when Athlon64 come out.

I might pair that with one of the next round of video cards. I want to see what works well with Doom3, Half-life2 and DeusEx2.

My dell in the sig doesn't really lend itself to any upgrades unless I get a whole new board which at this point would be way to expensive for way too little upgrade. I've been toying with the idea of setting up a RAID array though.

I am MOST DEFINITLY feeling ya on that one... except my PC is even slower than yours :-D

Yeah, September/October time should be good to buy an Opteron/A64 system, or a Xeon system if the A64 dissapoints...

Its not really an upgrade, but Im picking up a Asus A7V, AMD Athlon Thunderbird 900mhz, 512mb PC133. I have enough other components to get her up and running. Yes, its old school, but Ive had experiance with the exact same board and CPU; Im confident I can get it up to at least 1ghz, maybe 1.1ghz.

Not much to look at I guess, but its still another processor I can use for RC5-72... :)

BTW, Im getting it real cheap, so its a good deal for me. :D

I plan on getting a new graphics card too, just not sure when. I have also given some serious thought to going SATA RAID... 8)

I don't think this counts as an upgrade, but I plan on getting a SFF in a few months - preferrably the Chyang Fun CF-S668 (looks about the size of an encyclopedia.

Just ugraded my rig for the 3rd time. Both Morrowind and my bank account agreed that getting a faster cpu would be the best option right now. So I picked up an msi kt2 combo (so I could still use my 768mb of PC133) and an athlon xp 2200+. Flawless performance (almost) compared to my old abit kt7-raid and thunderbird 1100. I'm happy (for now) :D
