Character Limit on news posts

Please consider adding a character limit warning to the news posts if what's being posted is over the character limit, so you have a chance to edit and move text. Right now it just truncates posts so you lose everything above a threshold if you aren't careful. If you're lucky and you notice it you can hit back and the information is still there in the post box.

Better yet would be a a option to expand text if it goes over a certain limit, which most websites have.

Abyss of words, event horrizon,
can't escape gravity of bytes.
Truncated to bits,
swept by the wind,
lest the Wizard Bensam
Wave his wand, light at hand,
Alas, words will be saved!

The evil witch of hill yonder,
built on scraps of word forever no more!
Bensam fights and falls, no more hope?
Oh, how cruel our fate, for words are not safe!
To arms gerbils, it is time to show our wrath,
for we die only once in a true fight for our bytes!

Witch slain, no more words lost, rejoice!
Gerbils, forever safe our words, truncated no more!

I lol'd! What is this "to the tune of?"

There's also a bug with both forum and news replies on IE8 where once you exceed the visible space in the reply window it doesn't scroll down further. I'm sure nobody cares about fixing a bug with IE8, but it's the only brower I'm allowed to use at work... (╥﹏╥)

For posterity -- this is a classic.

Yeah I've had this issue for years, too. IE8, again most posting done at wor^H^H^H only on my leisure time at home. And it'll scroll down but each character you type past a certain limit starts moving the scrollbar up to the top. Trying to highlight text with your mouse? Good luck!

Yah, I just ctrl+A, ctrl+X, and then ctrl+v in notepad and finish my post there. (╹◡╹)
