Office Chair

Thu Nov 28, 2013 8:00 am

Happy Thanksgiving!

I could not find another place to put this, so if it should be moved please do so.

I am going to get my wife a new office chair for Christmas. She works from home 70% of the time and sits for long stretches. She also has back problems.

I am just not sure what to get her. I read the recent Leap review and I am not sure it is right for her as she might not have the patience for a chair that punishes her at first. So I think that leaves me with the Aeron. They seem to have good reviews and less of a learning curve.

But I am here seeking your input. Are there others I should consider? Am I wrong about the Leap?

If she has back problems, the Aeron -- though overpriced relative to its build quality -- will probably offer the best range of adjustments. Also, the mesh fabric helps prevent the dreaded Sweat Butt.

OTOH you might want to talk to her orthopedic specialist and find out if she would do better with one of those backless chairs that supports the user from both buttocks and knees, resulting in posture improvement and healthy exercise of the back muscles.
