Christmas loot thread

Wed Dec 25, 2013 4:52 pm

there's one of these most years, figured I'd kick off.
Not a huge christmas, but what I got I liked:

Friend gave me this scorpion:

Its a baby desert hairy scorpion (eating a dubai roach in the photo)

and my brother gave me this rifle:

Savage Axis in 308. He can't shoot it anymore so it became a Christmas gift.
Ugly people have sex all the time. We wouldn't have 6 and a half billion humans if you had to be beautiful to get laid.

Got a Boss collared shirt and perfume from the wife, some chocolates and a wallet from family members, and some serious cash from my aunt and uncle who have always been super-generous to me. I was kinda hoping someone would somehow figure out that I wanna get an SSD but the people closest to me (and thus would likely spend enough money to get an SSD for me) aren't techy people so I guess it's just too much to hope for without me telling them exactly what SSD to get for me. Well, with the money I was given I could buy any SSD on the market but I think I'll limit it to 120GB, especially since I need to be a Scrooge these days.

Someone gave me a 630W Rosewill Green.
Someone gave me (cash with which I purchased) an Asrock FM2A88X Extreme6+ and an Antec GX700
Someone gave me a paintball gun using water based bullets (bizarre, but cool)
Someone gave me a Amazon gift cert which I got Arkham Origins and Injustice for $20 each as well as a $7 Warframe platinum pack (66% off.)
Now I'm just waiting on Kaveri to come out :D
Fedex...for when you really need something to show up as slowly as possible.

My aging Media Center PC has been on the fritz lately and I got sick of fixing it over and over, so I ordered an Apple TV on a whim on the 22nd at like 10 pm. It arrived on the 24th with free shipping :o

So I've been playing all week with AirPlay and all the various media sharing features trying to get a feel for it's usefulness, as well as dodging all the pay-per-view-style apps it comes preinstalled with.

New winter coat, some shirts, and lots of (good) beer!

I'm well beyond the age of expecting anything for Christmas but a few things came my way, which was a pleasant surprise. Let's see...

Two movie tickets for free admission at Cineplex
$50 Wal-Mart gift card
$60 cash
A nice blanket which could be draped over my couch
Twining's Winter Spice Tea
A box of apple cider (packets)

All in all, pretty cool and not at all expected!
