The BBQ prize package is shaping up nicely. I decided to put a bow on it by throwing in a brand-new Nvidia Shield. See here:

I'll dig around here and see what else I can find to add to the mix.

Many thanks to ClickClick5 for returning The Wasson Cup so we can award it again this year. At the BBQ you'll be able to see pictures of what it's been doing for the past year. :D

I am so bummed, cause I tried the webcams and they look great.
Someone better face time with me from there during the event.

ugh. I was up until 12:30 this morning and I am still not finished prepping ribs. :P

The good news is I got 80% of them done. Tonight should not be too difficult and that will give me plenty of time to pack. :D

And peeps wonder why I shut off at 2:30 once I am done cooking. My week started Tuesday night with shopping and the gathering of supplies.

This photo is complementary to the one I posted of the parking area for the beach at the end of James. This is James St where you can park if the cottage and beach parking are both full. Park on the north (left) side of the road only (and make sure to leave room around the fire hydrants!

Also, someone else is going to need to run the bracketing & board creation this year. ;)

I share in your sadness. My stuff keeping me from attending this year is beyond my control..........almost anything else I could have worked around. <sigh>

Both of you will be sadly missed...

Rolled into Erie, PA just now only to find the entire town taken over by bikers. Seems they do a mini-Sturgis thing here. Good thing I made reservations when I did.

I am sad to say Baby Fish is not going to make it this year. She had surgery on Monday and is still not quite back to 100%. Sorry Ellie fans, fingers crossed for next year.

I'm sorry to hear Baby Fish is recovering.

Someone mentioned that there were going to be veggie gerbils at the BBQ. I was going to cut up some squash and zucchini and I was wondering do they prefer them on skewers or steamed in foil pouches on the grill?

I'm not a vegetarian/vegan, but I think skewered, brushed with a little olive oil, and grilled is a fantastic way to prepare zucchini. Sliced in half lengthwise and grilled also works well (and is less work than the skewers).

OTOH, the advantage of foil pouches is that the veggies won't come in contact with any of the meat fat/juices on the grill, and will be more acceptable to any strict vegetarian/vegan folks.

Good point, JBI. I guess I'll chop up and put them in bags to be steamed. It also makes for nice service sizes.

A dash of garlic (crushed, garlic powder, or garlic salt) in the pouches is really nice... :D

I usually do that, but I'm trying to keep it as neutral as possible. It's not hard to add garlic powder, garlic salt, or more salt/pepper after the fact.

FWIW I updated my last post in the Swap Meet thread with what I'm planning to bring (so far). Still going through stuff, so I may have more than that.

The Friday night hanging out at the cottage is sort of happening now. I have one camera setup where I intend to have it tomorrow and I'll be putting the other one into position soon. Not a lot to watch yet but check it out if you want and let me know what you think of the view.

i can't wait! ZOMG YES YES YES! (i'm hoping i can purchase or trade for 2 cans to take home with me as well - if yer willing)

I won't be able to make it this year. So the cornhole trophy will have to go to someone else. You can still mail me first prize though.
