This is my kind of contest, but like so many others, I just so happened to have cleaned my case recently. Guess I'll have to settle for next-dirtiest friend's PC. :P

Like all code that I write, it naturally contains Easter eggs. 8)

Running open-case has its benefits, but there are also some drawbacks. I recently upgraded my PC and the old system has been in quarantine ever since:

NOTE: I can't put either prize pack to use so I'm just doing it for the lulz, it's staged anyway

Here's my beautiful six year old i7 920.
I built her back in ~2008, and only recently discovered TechReport.com ~7 months ago when I started researching for a new videocard! I ended up replacing my 5870 with a used R9 290 back in November (it was a press card for reviews I was told), but the rest of this beast is starting to show some age  Especially in the open world games.

I'm actually impressed with how clean she is, I usually only get around to blowing her out once a year or so; she deiserves better I suppose. But then again I've been getting some BSOD over the past two months, randomly it seems, sometimes it's my videocard, other times I don't even know. ...But she's gone strong the past ~5 days w/out a problem, so that makes me happy!

The 290 was used as a press card (for reviews), I bought it from a mom & pop store, they thought it was a 290X, but it turned out to be a 290. I only ended up paying $299 for the card back in November! Great deal, it's a PowerColor.

This was my once most prized possession. It has since been taken over by my 6 year old son. He apparently cannot eat ANYTHING without making a mess. There are Apple Jacks INSIDE the case!!! I loved that computer... Now my son loves it even more. I don't even get any time on it. I need my own rig again! Help!

This is my father-in-law's computer that he uses in the office of his junkyard. He is still on dial up so even his Ethernet port is dirty. If I win I will build myself a new rig, pass mine down to my son and his to my father-in-law; allowing 3 people to get new pc's.

This is my computer build (my gaming/casual use/experimental use).

I put my pc into that case because I wanted to overclock it. It sits next to my window so there is a lot of dust that gets on it. I try to clean it once a month, but this is the result of about almost a month.

This is my 9 year old PC that hums along in my ag-shop 24/7, among the dirt, dust, and occasional greasy keyboard. It's used for part look ups and ordering, diagnostics on cars and equipment, weather look up, and a little R&R now and then. It has been limping along with 512MB and XP on a 3G/4G network, and very recently I have been attempting to do a Windows 7 upgrade to give this PC to someone and get something new, and a video surveillance/server upgrade. I think I could put some new hardware to use!

When I opened my case to do some upgrades, I was surprised at how little dust there was, considering that it hadn't been cleaned in almost a year.

Image

While my upgrades were massive, the new parts are still somewhat outdated by tech enthusiast standards.

I upgraded my RAM from a Quadram Quadboard 8-bit ISA card with 128kbytes of memory to 8Gb of G.Skill DDR3-1333.

I moved up to a Crucial RealSSD C300 64Gb from my trusty old Seagate 23.2Gb Seagate 5400RPM 5 1/4" SCSI drive.

I pulled out my 3dfx Voodoo 5 5500 64Mb 2x AGP graphics card (with dual VSA-100 "Napalm" chips!) in favor of an EVGA Geforce GTX 660 2Gb... but to maintain Glide compatibility, I decided to finally open up my Diamond Monster 3D II Voodoo 2 12Mb EDO PCI card from 1998 and add that into one of my free slots. Is a video card upgrade REALLY an upgrade if you lose Glide support? I think not!

In the pic I was about to remove my Aztech Sound Galaxy 16bit ISA sound card after installing my Asus Xonar DX. Should be a nice improvement in fidelity and driver support, though I am having trouble finding information online about what IRQ and DMA settings to use in my autoexec.bat.

Also pictured is my aging IBM 1501100 DIN keyboard. Its been flaky since 1984, but it still works alright. I wouldn't mind that new Cooler Master keyboard to replace it though!

Anyway, I hope I win... it'd be cool to do TWO upgrades within 15 years!

Not an expert at photo editing on a computer.. so I hope I got this right..

This picture can't do justice to the family of spiders that jumped out when I took off the case.. Some of the cobwebs can be seen in the bottom left...
Thankfully, the spiders didn't cooperate by sticking around, but my garden could use some spring cleaning as well as the machine..

Edit: Dang it dmpls... that was my idea... :D

this is an old dell. it is running widows 98. even though its not the best coputer ive ever had, its stayed with me the whole time. old reliable has 1/4 gb of ram, the slowest proccessor ever on the market and a 10 gb hard drive. it still runs i believe and it will probably be passed down to my kids so they can play all the old games i puut on it years ago. but i do want a coputer i can actually pay a goood game on. good luck to everyone intering the contest.
