UT4 Public Server for TR fans

Mon Nov 09, 2015 9:34 pm

In light of the recent news post with UT4. I decided to fire up a public dedicated UT4 server on my main system. It is under "Krogoth's UT4 server" on the master list.

The IP Address is 68.84.50.179 at the moment but it may change. I'll have to fire-up my DDNS service again and provide a host name for that as a more permanent solution.

Got DDNS up and running again. The hostname is krogoth.servequake.com

It is a barebones server at the moment and I'm not certain if server can be access over my WAN address since my router's NAT is a bit wonky.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks for running one Krogoth. I was going to try and organize one for TR. One task off my to do list. :D Right now I'm trying to get the OS X running on MBP because my main rig has a EoP connection with 1 mbit/sec down and up with a 600 ms ping. Unreal 4 refuses to run because of a launch option I think. I'm going to look at the release notes now.

HD 3000 Graphics will not run UT under OS X.

Yep, UT4 needs at least a DX11 compliant GPU to work at this time. I suppose that DX10 could technically work, but nobody has bother to make a render for it.

Is there a linux headless server? I've got a somewhat beefy VPS that I could throw it up on.

I think I have one setup, but I don't have a client to test it on. Could someone try out (removed) and see if it's working properly? I'll be around later tonight to try it first hand, once I get it downloaded.

I'm downloading UT on my main rig as I type. I'll try and connect to your server SuperSpy. We probably should decide on a single server just so we don't have 3 players on a server and 5 on the other.

Superspy, it said cannot directly connect to a hub when I tried to connect to your server.

When I attempted to connect to Krogoth's server the connection timed out.

Krogoth's server works :D. I just typed the IP instead of the hostname when I initially tested it. Time to play some UT.

Yeah, I couldn't get it working, and am too busy to spend time fixing it, so I just took the server down. Sorry.

Awesome thank you. I will grab it. I also have to try and get UT2004 to run on the Mac. I have the new iMac and I've googled some solutions but they are all sketchy. I know I can just install Windows via Boot Camp, but would love to run it native. Unfortunately there are no digital versions on the Mac. I used to have the old disc version but I think I lost it in the move to CA :(

Hmm what I found involves installing the MAC UT2004 demo, than copying the content files from the PC version(installed) over to the folder and renaming it and putting your CD-key into a text file. Very sketchy actually. That said amazon to the rescue: http://www.amazon.com/Unreal-Tournament ... B0001AVSJQ
