Vanquish is coming to PC

Wed May 10, 2017 7:06 pm

As per the title, the Sega hit is coming to PC on 25th of May, about 7 years after it's release on Xbox 360 and PS3.

To be honest, I've never heard of this game until people start wishing for it after the recent Bayonetta release on PC. However, it does seem pretty cool and and reasonably priced so I think I'm gonna pick it up soon. Not to mention that last year, I bought and played Valkyria Chronicles which turns out to be surprisingly good so I'm hoping this game will surprise me as well.

P.S: Owners of Bayonetta on Steam gets a 25% discount for the game.

Wasn't Vanquish a toilet tank cleaner? No, wait, that was "Vanish". Vanquish was a pain reliever!

I was hoping it would be a dual-GPU 1080 TI graphic card.

I specifically made this thread under the Gaming sub-forum so I don't know how you got that. :-?

What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

I remember playing that at a friend's house years ago; Seemed like a generic cover-shooter to me with lots of samey, flat, open maps.

Perhaps the only reason it was popular was because you didn't have to play it as a cover shooter, you could just dash all over the place avoiding the cover instead. To me, that solved the problem of cover-shooters feeling slow and imprecise - I hated that restricted movement feeling where your journey from cover to cover felt more like a cutscene than you having real control over your character....

Even if it wasn't a console port,
Even it it wasn't 7-year old gameplay,
Even if it wasn't a cover shooter,
Even if the mouse and keyboard support is actually decent (so few console ports are),
Even if it does promise more than 16:9, 30fps, 720p muddy PS3 and XB360 graphics,

....things have moved on too much since then. This is a nostalgia-fest that should be left where it belongs on the original consoles.

So because you don't like the game that means it shouldn't be on a new platform where new people can like it or those who might want it on the new platform who liked it on the old ones

okay sure that's totally fine and cool

Totally stoked. Can't wait. Maybe if this keeps up we can hope for a port of Bullet Witch to PCs? :)

I'm just cynical because I've eagerly anticipated several enjoyable console games finally make it to PC years later and they've all been disappointing ports.

I don't know whether to blame nostalgia for raising my expectations higher than they should be, or whether PC gamers have overly high expectations for a game that was never designed to be played with a keyboard and mouse. I usually just end up getting frustrated with inconsistent mouse sensitivity between movement/menus/inventory and the mouse-acceleration that cannot be disabled even with .ini file editing - and then revert to a lower resolution because the menus/text/hud aren't really scaling well at 1440p

We can wish but we gotta convince the publishers and devs. If there's high demand, I'm sure they might consider it.

I'm hoping we can get the rest of the Valkyria Chronicles game. I think SEGA is considering it since the first one got pretty high reception on the PC.

Problem is at least one of the VC sequels is not in English.

I just checked, that's the third game. Least they could do is bring over the second game. :P

Got a code from Bundle Stars for 30% off towards Vanquish for buying Bayonetta (offer expires on May 25th.)
It would take you 2,363 continuous hours or 98 days,11 hours, and 35 minutes of gameplay to complete your Steam library.
In this time you could travel to Venus one time.

Nice! How does that work though? Did you buy Bayonetta and Vanquish from Bundle Stars?

I'll probably get it on Steam cause even though it's only 25% off (cause I have Bayonetta), it's still quite cheap cause it's price in my local currency instead of USD.

My only hope is that Sega DO KNOW how to make good PC games (Alien Isolation, case in point).
Let's just hope they port properly.

The Bayonetta port is basically flawless, issues on FX CPUs notwithstanding. It even has great control configuration options, which is very impressive.

This is a game I missed, other than playing a demo. It may be worth it for me when it is cheaper since it is only about 7 hours long. Action looks great though.
