They're not going to run out of stock! There is no need to reserve your copy!

To us, that meant not only making good on the ambitions of this remarkable game, but also a duty to ensure we would not repeat its mistakes. Today, we have to tell you that we need some more time to get you the game you’ve been waiting for. Although Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 will still launch in 2020, we have decided to value quality over making the Q1 launch window.

I've adopted this as a general principle for all software of any kind.
The couple of times that I have pre-ordered a game, it never ended up being a game that I played for very long. I don't think I ended up playing any of them for more than about 12 hours.
I've moved to the "wait for the first Steam sale" strategy. Enables me to skip games that looked good in the trailers but turned out to be meh, plus saves some money over launch price and avoids the inevitable launch-day-bugfest-patch-hope-it-actually-fixes-it fandango.
Paradox has pulled development of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 from Hardsuit Labs, delayed the game indefinitely and cancelled new pre-orders.
The new developer is doing quite well and we are happy with the progress of the project now, but it's still quite some time before we can start to talk about release dates. We prefer to give the studio a situation where they can focus fully on the game development and not having to address fans reaching out to them. So, therefore, we have so far not disclosed the name of the studio and we are very happy to keep it that way for still some time.
