I was wondering for the heck of it, what free MMORPG are there? I dont want to pay 10 dollars a month on Ultima Online or FFXI. Even a virtual chatting world would be nice....

Ive seen this Virtual Ibizza - http://www.virtualibiza.com/ Is this any good? Or are there better free multiplayer virtual worls out there?

Stay away from KOL! :o

At least stuff like Everquest you can't really play at work. KOL, on the other hand, is web based, so it's all too tempting to spending a few minutes now and then playing it while at work. "A few minutes now and then" will eventually turn into half of your work day

I weaned myself off KOL

Once you complete all the missions and amass a fortune of meat... there isn't a lot to do, other than systematically build up your stats through PvP, and I find that's more of a chore than anything

Guild Wars is going beta very soon. This will be a MMORPG with no monthly fees. Very VERY nice game too. Here is their site. I suggest you at least give it a look. And I repeat, NO FEES.

I was thinking of a 3-D virtual world game. Can anyone suggest a free one?

Yeah, I've been weaning myself off too. I only spend about 15 minutes a day (and most of that is waiting on the server lag) on there now just to eat, drink, and work out at the clan gym. There was a point I was spending a good 2 or 3 hours a day there wheeling and dealing in the mall until the utter futility of trying to amass tons of money when the game is gonna reset at some point anyway finally dawned on me. I was basically just collecting money so I could donate to the clan which Hawkwing74 then just spent on the equally futile clan warfare 8)

What a disaster
I've decided that we can't compete with the "first tier" clans so I've been trying to protect around 20000 goodies instead of 1000000.

I play Shattered Galaxy which is a MMORTS. It is sort of like a MMO StarCraft. There is unlimited play with the free accounts. Only difference is limitations on equipment and units.

You can find it at:

Wasn't there like an idle-RPG in IRC where you would lose points for using the chat?
