Just a side note:

I pugged deadmines just now with 2 other guildmates. Deadmines has been nerfed a lot; it is considerably easier than my first run through it. Took us about 1 hour 30 minutes or so.

I noticed the reduction to challenge in Deadmines myself. Right before the saw room there were two guards origonally and now there is only 1. They also nerfed the mobs in the room itself. There used to be 5 or 6 guys randomly in the room. Now there are two in the center.

I also looked at the patch notes for 4.0.6... its depressing how many heroics are getting nerfed. First boss in SFK, for example, will no longer cast "mend rotten flesh" I liked how hard they were. basically the perfect level of challenge vs frustration for me and now it's going to get easier.

Edit: for patch version

Bartender, Shadowed Unit Frames, DBM/BigWigs, Omen, Quartz. That's not a complete list, but it's what I'm using. I still have to add scrolling combat text, a better disease timer, and a few other things.

I have found a lot of mods I thought I couldn't live without are actually fairly irrelivant. The only mods I consistantly put on are recount and forteXorcist just because I don't want to be slacking and not realize it and the DOT classes NEED something to track debuffs. It is also useful for finding which guild mates are slacking and help them raise their dps.

A lot of mods that are seen as must haves are actually not needed anymore either. I used to think raiding would be impossible without something like CTraid assist or DBM. I raided through ICC with nothing but the WoW raid warnings and I managed to get 11/12 (only didn't get 12/12 cuz cata was on the horizon when we finally got there and my stupid raid leader kept refering to our attempts as "practice runs").

I stopped using CTRaid back in BC, it just doesn't do anything really special anymore, blizz's raid tools have become a lot more robust then they were back in vanilla when this was a huge improvement. The big addons I use are a lot of utility ones like altaholic, atlas loot, omen, recount, auctioneer, and gatherer. They help me get things done ingame, and I have never been big on massive UI changing ones.

Actually now that you mention it, Altoholic is amazing. I have 10 characters on my primary server so being able to see how much money I have, who has it and how much rest state they all have is very slick.

We want warriors to stop using heroic strike, they should be using slam! Therefore, we're going to change lambs to the slaughter to work as a stacking debuff on a target 10/20/30 causing the next OP, MS, or Slam to keep it up and gain the benefits of the attack increase. We're also changing slam to work with (haste?) - WHY?! It's a .5sec cast already and its damage is garbage. Improve slams damage if you want us to use it, retards. Oh BTW we're making your charge via Juggernaut share the CD with Intercept and we're still not going to fix how buggy and unpredictable heroic leap is. So we've removed all your burst damage and made it really easy to kite in PvP. GG HF. ....At least they nerfed druid bleeds.

I'm glad I canceled.

edit: Despite my unhappiness in the last month + of constant changes, It seems I misunderstood (read: the changes weren't laid out clearly) some things about the buff to Ltts; basically it's not target based which was my main concern, it's a buff on my toon. So I can change characters all I want. I still don't understand the want to have slam scale with haste, to what end? What for?

Not directly related to WoW but I thought this article was interesting on how one MMO is dealing with player abuses.

Well the one thing to remember is there is a limited amount of things they can do with hotfixes, and with the massive changes they did with cata it is going to take time to get everything dialed in. Every class isnt going to be perfect right off...your problems with the warrior class may be fixed in a few weeks, or a few months. My main is a combat rogue, they went from being one of the highest dps specs pre armor pen nerf to one of the lower ones. They have been tweaking my class since the pre cata patch came out, and they are still working on it. Blizz isnt going to let a spec suck for long, it just takes time and playtesting to get things fixed. The big issue is that if someones spec isnt doing the highest dps in the gme people get upset...no one wants to be the middle of the pack, and that is pretty much where blizz is aiming for...alll specs to be more or less even.

I'm finding my ele shaman's dps pretty dissapointing.. at the end of LK, with 277 gear I could compete with pure dps classes, be in top 10 in a 25 at least.. now, with 348 avg ilevel, bottom of charts. I know cata raids aren't all about dps, its more about staying alive, but still, bah!

Also finally levelled profs on alts to feed my shaman.. levelling herbing on a druid is hella easy, then alchemy on him not so bad. Went mining/skinning on DK.. still needed to buy crazy expensive leather on AH to finish LW on shaman.. crafted mail caster pieces pretty nice.

Yeah, ele shammies is another class that needs work still....my GM is a enh/ele shammy, and he used to play both equally, now he pretty much stays as enh due to ele pretty much sucking hard. There was a point though pre cata where ele shammies and other catsres were doing crazy dps, and all the things they did to change stuff and nerf OP abilites has not been totally sorted out yet. Most likely ele will be back just give it some time, with all the massive changes they have done to all the classes, its going to take time to get it all working properly.

By less than 2% And the moving that nurf and applying it and buffing Shred, Rip, and FB. Still its not much of a nurf when most feral (cat) druids are stacking Mastery. 1 point in Mastery increases bleed damage by 3.1%. Right now I am sitting at 81% increased in bleed damage, live. Taking my toon to PTR its 79%

/muuuahahahahahah

(then Again I dont care as I dont PvP. You want to PvP go play MoH  )

Anyone got any tips or tricks on how to quickly level a alchemist/ herbalist? The prices for pots and flasks I need for raiding are killing me so I am quickly leveling an alt and dropping all his profs and picking up Alchy/ herbalism.

Try that guide. There is a link in the top section for herbalism guide as well. It tells you how much of everything you need to level from 1 to 525.

Awesome thanks, two days and maxed both. It seems to be more profitable on my server to sell the raw herbs than it is to make flasks, even when my primary flask is 220G+ each.

Yea, I think I am going to pick up herbalism on one of my alts this weekend and level that up just to gather herbs and volatile life to sell and make some gold. One of my buddies on my server is making gold hand over fist just selling his herbs and volatile life.

I've been getting bored with the available content but I wanted to get "What a long strange trip" before I canned my account. The last one I will have to do is children's week. When doing the PVP acheivments, do I have to cap the flag etc myself or do I just have to be within a certain distance while it happens? I have always sucked at PVP and I would be a bit upset if that one single acheivment prevented me from getting the entire meta-acheivment.

I can't say for 100% certainty but I would asume that you have to click on the flag and be the one to return it. I know for the AV portion of that acheivment that I had to actually click the flag in a tower to turn it over. I remember this because in the AV I was in there were a group of horde and one alliance in the tower and the horde people would cap the flag and the alliance would turn it back over so the next horde could cap the flag for the acheivement.

It might just take you alot of pvp to get this done but I'm sure eventually with enough tries you should be able to get lucky and return the flag.

Ugh... I'm really not looking forward to children's week now...

That's really cool about the flag capping though. I can only dream of getting into a game like that...

Shameless bump to an ancient thread:

So what's everybody doing in WoW lately? I am eager for the next patch. As a casual player, especially now with a new baby, I want better honor gear and hopefully better dungeon gear for my efforts. So I'm hoping that's solved by the next dungeon cycle. I'm sick of blues with low stats for the honor gear, especially. Resilience eats too much of the item budget in a blue.

I got bored with the game entirely and canceled. Interesting fact: My password is pretty strong. I had to wipe my phone (and remove my authenticator). Within the 24 window I had my account without an authenticator, my account was active again (had lapsed) and everything sold/stripped. Keylogger is the only possible explanation I could think of, but then, from what? I scan daily for malware etc, never a positive hit. Stranger still is that my account wasn't even active.

That is weird. If it's that prevalent I am surprised I haven't been hacked since I don't have an authenticator.

I am looking forward to 4.1 dropping at the end of the month, it will def help our raiders get that gear they need to push past where we are stuck right now. Beeen spending my time pushing all my alts for 85 now. 6/10 for 85 level toons right now with several close.

I went back to Mal'Ganis since my guild of old friends had some logistical issues getting more than one 10 man going. This group is doing 25s, and they didn't start until after the holidays, and had trouble getting rosters filled until about mid-january. I came to them in February (after one of their officers offered me a spot back) and said "a bunch of stuff just happened (they merged with another raid group), give us some time to sort that out". So, I gave them a month and transferred after talking to them again. My Tank gear was full heroic level with some epics (347 ilvl basically), but my DPS gear was much lower than that, somewhere in the realm of 330 or something. Anyway, after a week of sitting out, and a couple weeks of farming, swapping gear, I basically became their break tank on Heroic Chimaeron, their kiter on Heroic Magmaw (and soon to be conclave), and doing pretty well DPS wise, despite having a spec that's currently slightly inferior (about 1.5-2K DPS short).

Since I've started, we had one off week of no progression, then we've killed one new boss every week with the exception of 2 weeks ago for Omnotron. We're now 6/13 and likely hitting 7/13 this week. Not too bad for a 9 hour/week raid schedule and the difficulties they've had before I got there (and after I got there, we had a few people quit, replaced them with some really bad ones - like a 7700 DPS warlock - who were then replaced by some really good players.

So far, being casual has been a fairly good success. I'll remain here until I move across the country. At that point, who knows what's going to happen. We're hoping we can clear the rest of the tier before Firelands, and the longer they delay the patch (and we keep progressing), the likelihood of that happening increases. I've been fighting off the itch to go back to Aftermath, which cut it's raid hours to 13 hours/week, and is 10 (or 11?) out of 13, but I need the time to work on career things at home.

Anybody still playing? I'm wondering if Blizzard is afraid of Star Wars TOR taking away additional customers. I've been cancelled waiting for new content. I'm sick of paying money when there's nothing to do but raid/arena for slightly better gear.

So yesterday made it 9 weeks since I cancelled. quite honestly I dont really miss it because I have been playing catch up on so many games lately. B:AA, ME2 (gotta get that perfect character to carry over) BF3, DA2, TF2, etc....

I am eagerly awaiting SWTOR, and now that Skyrim is upon us may plate will be full until then.

Looking back in this thread I started almost 7 years ago brings back some very fond memories. 7 years.......yeah thats a very long time.

I lost most of my respect for WoW when I saw the new Kung-Fu Panda and Pokemon expansion that's supposed to be coming out next year :P

I know that Pandaren were part of the lore from a long time back, but when I saw the announcement, I had to double check my calendar to make sure it wasn't April 1 again...
